When I was a kid, my dad listened to Jim Croce all the time. I’m lucky that he’s still around, but Time in a Bottle still nearly brings a tear to my eye—

I don’t see my dad anymore (out of choice), but I was raised with music and learned to appreciate good music, not to just hear it but feel it and really listen.

The one piece that always makes me cry is Edward Elgars - Enigma Variations IX - Nimrod, the hunter.

I was in high school those years and I remember where I was when I heard that Croce had died. He and his guitarist were top shelf. I can’t find the full midnight special show recorded weeks before the crash, but here is a retrospective.

Leonard Skinnard, Croce, and Chase. I lost three favorite bands in a short time. Bummer.
