I see this car all the time, and am kind of stalking it. I want to leave a note on it that I will buy it, but I am not allowed to get any more cars.
I was really stealthy, and parked the Sunchaser in the street with flashers on to take these. Look at those stock wheels. God damn. Sadly, it has been degrading since I started watching it; the damage to the bumper and the broken light are new. I really dig these old Legend coupes, and this one has a lot of potential. Bummer.

Thanksgiving was interesting, as the Sacramento Bee ran an editorial telling the world to be thankful for the guy who is suing me, and for the 9th Circuit judge who called me a mafioso and a serial killer.
Considering that backdrop, you would think it would have been pretty firey. But it was surprisingly milquetoast, and didn’t really make much of a point. My wife thinks he was ready to blast me, but talked to me and realized I am not a monster. I have no idea, but it generated no buzz at all.
In contrast, one of my employees and her sister surprised me last night with a tray of homemade tamales to thank me for helping her family when her father died unexpectedly. She wrote a really sweet card and gave me a big hug and said thank you for being a good boss. I am not a very expressive person, but it affected me.
I win because I care most about the people closest to me, not some newspaper guy who doesn’t know me.
Now if I can solve more important problems, like how to get my hands on that Legend without getting divorced....

My first car was the fully loaded LS trim of that exact car. Same gold color but the LS had this rubber spoiler on the end of the trunk, like this:

There’s a Subaru 360 van peaking out from behind a house just down the street from me. In two years I haven’t seen it move.
There’s also a first gen Bronco sitting outside a barn on my drive to work. It has a plow on front so it may still get used.

There’s a Honda Z600 in my father in law’s pole shed. He got it as payment for a flooring job, thinking my brother in law would be able to restore it. We could/would if we could afford it. Parts for the N and Z 600 are stupid expensive because they were only sold in the US for 2 years and didn’t sell well at all.

About a decade ago some guy I went to school with had an orange Saab 99 in decent condition. He didn’t give a SHIT about that car. It was in worse shape every time I saw it until he moved away. I would not have been able to take care of it back then but, man. I have a thing for Swedish cars, it wasn’t an easy time.
Also lol @ the mafioso + serial killer comparison. Hand-on-heart, a local reporter made an organized crime analogy about my boss and his family (real estate attorneys) because of their methods. Such comparisons are a sign of doing “controversial” things well.

There’s a 3rd gen Camaro, faded from some kind of 80s or 90s turquoise, sitting on jackstands about 300 feet from my door. It’s been sitting that way, in a dingy yard behind a small fence, for at least a decade. I make an effort to pass and look at it every time I’m walking, and each time I see it I get a little sadder. It’s on such a small side street that I’m sure
nobody
else ever looks at it. It’s just there. Waiting. For someone. Clearly the owner intended to fix it at one point, or they wouldn’t have bothered with four nice jack stands...but I’ve never met the owner. Maybe they’ve passed away.
I don’t like muscle cars, but there’s something about that car that speaks to me. I’ve always wanted to revive it, but I lack the space and the time. The time especially, since I’ll be leaving the country in a few months. I wish I could take it with me, restore it, and put a big-ass V8 in it to terrorize the streets of Japan.

Datsun 280z that has literally been sitting (gets driven from one parking spot to the next one over a few times a year) in a neighborhood up the street since I was a kid. I used to think it was ugly and didn’t know what it was. then I learned about datsuns, fell in love, and have wanted it ever since. I’ve asked the old guy to sell me it twice, and each time he says “it’s too fun” to sell. YOU DONT DRIVE IT!

I owned a 2nd gen Legend coupe with the type II V-6 for awhile. It was a supremely good car, it just didn’t make sense to fuel and maintain for a 52 mile/day commute after we bought a house. Save that coupe and sell the Sport Trac Explorer?

This slightly battered DINAN E46 has been floating around my neighbors and hasn’t been driven on road for at least 2 years. They occasionally start it to move it and it sounds terrible lately. It’s an auto, so mostly I wish it would go away.
