They replace the waterpump at 45k miles? WTH??

I’d do the brakes, and fluid flush yourself. It’s the next easiest maintenance after changing your oil.

I’ll be That Guy but half of that stuff is padded or is an easy DIY. This is why people (mostly Americans) generally hate VW. Because you’d be hard-pressed to see a $2,500 repair bill on a Honda or Toyota in the first, oh, 500k miles or so ;)

Waterpump bearing went Shablam and the pump started leaking badly.

If it weren’t for those pesky broken Waterpump and PCV Valve, this would have been actually quite acceptable.

I thought fuel injection cleaning was bogus, waste of money?

Damn, I hope the replacement is an updated design. Too bad it didn’t happen under warranty.

When you live in a shitty third world country and gasoline quality is spotty at best it kinda makes sense.

Those are very hit and miss. Some cars last millions of miles on the original pump and some 2015 GTIs were plagued by waterpump failure at 15k miles.

I live in an apartment in the middle of the biggest city in the southern hemisphere and work for one of the 5 larges law firms in Latin America. I lack both the time and space for such things, if I lived in a house and had spare time tho, I might consider it.

Oh... the water pump had already failed after 45k miles? :S

Not failed, but it was leaking badly.

Fair enough...it just came across a bit like a horror story. But your time and space issues are real and I can understand it still being worth it. Sao Paulo?

But still, wow — that’s quite a bill for some premature wear/repairs. I’m a longtime VW guy and none of it really surprises me. Nice wagon, I hope it gets easier over time (I’m still driving an ‘01 4motion wagon)

I really did not expect the Waterpump and the PCV to fail this soon, the cost of those parts was like 50% of the estimate.

The discs and bushings take up another 25%.

If it weren’t for shitty Brazilian tarmac and bad gasoline, this would have been pretty uneventful. VW does take some blame for the spotty plastic bit in the engine but I still like the car. The 2.0 TSi and wet DSG6 are a killer combo.

4L of oil seems like...not that much oil. My 1.8tsi takes 6L, wonder why it’s different.

My mistake, it was 5L.
