Kinja'd!!!

I carpooled to university with a friend of mine and he owns (mom owns) a Land Rover. We parked and were prepping our stuff before leaving the cozy cabin and entering the cold 8 degree weather here (Obviously this is centigrade) but before we could do anything, a frankly tasteless driver decided to lay her fucking door onto the side of our car as she exited hers. My friend was so angry that he threw his tea baggy at this person’s windshield through the Land Rover’s window.

It was twinnings english breakfast tea thrown from a land rover.

in canada we consider +8c warm, not cold. that’s almost t-shirt and shorts weather

Yeah, I suppose so!

The thing is that here we wake up with 3c and have 25c middays just to settle back down to 9c nights. tis brutal on the body! Do you guys have such temperature differences throughout the day?

Even down here in the Deep South, that’s fantastic weather to me. It’s 7 degrees right now and I’m getting ready to mow the lawn one last time, then go work on the kids’ treehouse. But remember that Mexico temps are like Southern California temps. And British people love to complain about weather, so in a sense, that works well with the teabagging. Ummm.

But yeah, that retribution is British AF. One might even say...RAF?

Nope nope nope. I can tolerate down to -5, but that’s about my limit. Ever wonder why 90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the US? They’re trying to stay warm.

We should build a giant border wall made of space heaters!

“cold”

“8 degrees centigrade (or, for fellow Americans, 46 degrees Fahrenheit).”

Ha. Haha Hahahaha.

You’ve not felt cold until you’ve felt -30 F (-34C)

The average low for the month of December is 5c in Mexico City, but its about 500 square kilometers and has a lot of different topography! so generalizing about it is going to lead to misconceptions.

Up in the northern areas of the city temperatures stay warmer (this because urban spaces capture heat much better than countryside!) but go south to Ajusco or west to Desierto de los Leones and dammit its cold! Mexico does get cold weather, the government even considered loosening up some regulations in the Nevado de Toluca National Park so that a ski resort could be built!

We do get snow up north in the mountains by Chihuahua also!

I did live in a place with -20c weather during the winter and it was crazy!

but living there you’re used to carrying huge ass coats and like, restaurants and schools having heating.

It’s still unusual for places in Mexico City to have heating or A/C unless its a terrace or something and they have those portable heaters.

We do get sporadic cold and hot weather (it usually stays in the 17-20c “Meh” zone) but unless its a very large building like a mall or the airport it probably doesn’t have climate control. Monterrey, Cancun, Guadalajara and other large cities did move to American-style insane climate control where you get a 10C difference between ambient air and building air.

Yeah, sorry to generalize, I know the topography and climate there is very diverse — especially in cities (like DF) that are bowl-shaped and not flat like most US cities.

There are always exceptions....like the small tropical forests in SW England. Or the climate of coastal Western Canada.

‘Poppet’ is a term of endearment for young girls (usually old enough to speak, but less than 7 or so).

You can imagine what calling a grown man ‘poppet’ implies ;)

Most places in Hong Kong (a similar latitude to Mexico City) have no heat, and it’s a crisis when temperatures drop to around 10 celsius.
