Kinja'd!!!

UPDATE: talked to the seller, who says his bottom is $2800. We will now have to decide if it’s worth driving out to look at.

Those of you who buy cars on CL and/or know Integras better than I do, what would you offer for this one ? $3300 is too high for the miles. I was thinking of offering $2700 or $2800, but I don’t want to lowball. I’m actually seriously interested in this car.

Also looks like you’re seriously interested in getting your car stolen. But still, a Honda is a Honda. Go for it. Lowball it as much as is acceptable and protect this with your life. If you get it, don’t let it get stolen.

Well if that’s supposed to be the Circle of Life with these cars, maybe I should just go steal it myself and enjoy it until somebody takes it from me.

My buddy had his Integra GS-R stolen out of his closed garage. They actually moved a car out of the way, without damaging to get to the Integra.

2500 because of miles and the “it’s gonna get stolen’ deductible

Don’t worry, I’ll steal it from you then you steal it back from me then back and forth until we die. Deal?

Okay, just leave it with gas in it for me when it’s my turn.

I wouldn’t willingly pay much more honestly...3300 is a crazy price for that. If you twisted my arm you’d get 2700 max out of me for that

I’ve paid more for a lot worse, but having owned a ‘92 I wouldn’t pay over 2500 for this.

Honda Integras are like rocking horse shit, rare finds. That is an incredibly high mileage car (well for the U.K. at least) but for that price it’s still good.

It’s a very clean honest car. Maybe replace the engine and do a full check on the mechanicals.

A) it looks clean and unmolested

B) it looks great and rust free

C) it’s got that 3 pedal and a stick in the floor thing..

D) it’s arguably one of the best cars on the planet

I would probably pay the asking price and wing it on the miles.

Yeah, my sister says it’ll either have a new transmission by now or needs one. I’m sure there’s other stuff. I’ll call the guy and sound him out.

NP for days! mileage really doesn’t matter at this point. Most of the common problems on them are factory defect (Like the main relay) or age related (leaky valve guides) $3,300 is not bad. If he’ll go lower great.

My wife’s ‘02 Si had 195,000 miles on it and drive like new on original engine, clutch, spark plugs, shocks, ball joints and rie rods. It also got 6000 miles to the quart of mobil 1 when we sold it. The only thing I replaced on the car was sway bar links.

Modern cars (Hondas) can last very well if not abused. I would review the service history and then drive it and if there are not major rust issues, the tire wear looks even, it brakes straight and the engine pulls smoothly why not?

The main thing is it appears that there is an adult driving it who did the important thing which is change the oil assuming that is what the service history indicates. Preferrably an adult who had a 30 mile commute daily....

If you do buy it, I suggest have someone look for leaking shocks or worn out links, tie rod ends or ball joints. Figure you are going to spend $1k for any needed maintenance, tires etc, also figure on changing the water pump and cam belt if it hasen’t been done in 7 years or 70,000 miles.

By the way, it looks totally stock in the pictures, with original floor mats and clean interior/exterior. Assuming that it drives well, you should be able to get another 100k miles out of it with maybe a head and or clutch being the biggest worries. But that would not deter me as you only have $2800 in it and chances are if it keeps running you will end up with little depreciation.

Finally, if money matters, a cheap car is not a bargain if it is falling apart due to poor manuafacturer quality or poor maintenance. This appears to have superior maintainance (is this the original owner?) and these Hondas are almost indestructable. Given the apparent condition of the car, to me it is is a bargain at $2800 compared to something like a Focus driven by some kid with no money, no maintenance and even if the Focus had half the miles and sold for $1500.....

Do it. NOW.......

BTW, a ‘99 is a lot more of a car than a ‘92 Integra.

By the way, did you notice it has NEW Michelin Tires ? Let me get this straight, the owner drops $700 on tires on a car they plan to sell? How much better of a present owner do you want!!!! Heck they probably recently aligned it too and had the suspension done because the tire guy said it was worn.

It’s true that any car including well maintained ones can break 20 miles after you bought it, but I like the odds on this one. BUY IT!!!!!!

Thanks. This is useful information. The guy says he has an “offer on it currently”, but it’s still for sale. But he didn’t try to use that as leverage to deal me up. Interesting.

If you look at the map it may have been a daily driver into Dayton which would explain high miles but low wear. Unfortunately the listing has been deleted. Hope that isn’t a bad sign.......
