Oppo help me decide! Should I rent the cheapest base model subcompact that probably has manual windows and no cruise control, or should I spend $10 more and get a Mustang?

This is an impromptu trip home. I had to put my 13 year old puppy down yesterdaand my parents bought me a plane ticket home to be nice.

Sorry for your loss. Cheer yourself up and rent the Mustang. Base of the base subcompacts are miserable. If you are spending more the 3 minutes in the car, the upgrade will be worth it. Especially if it’s only $10.

Yeah. It was kinda posted as tongue in cheek. I guess the rental mustang prices are low because everybody is traveling with family.

My condolences.

Stick with the subcompact. There is a high probability that the car won’t be available and they will give you a free upgrade to something nicer.

How is this even a question?

Mustang! Had to rent my wife a car for a week before we took delivery of her new one and it was about $20 more over the course of the week for a Mustang instead of a Focus. Really easy call - they also said we could’ve had a Camaro, but she picked the Mustang.

An upgrade to me would be a mustang.

I rented a Mustang through Budget for 3 days when I was on vacation in Denver. To my surprise, it was an Ecoboost. Fun car, surprisingly comfy on the highway. Go for the Stang.

Ah, gotcha. I was actually just looking at rental cars for an upcoming wedding and noticed the mustang is about $90 more for the weekend. I still might do it haha

Years ago I landed in Pasadena on a beautiful morning for business. There was a lonely Sebring convertible in the rental lot. I do not regret the extra $15 a day it cost for the evenings I spent driving up in the San Gabriels with the top down. Ya only live once; go for the gusto! And my condolences to you for loosing your lil’buddy.

Which is why I don’t think you should waste the extra $10/day.

Most places here actually rent the EB premium. Even then, the v6 base model is leaps and bounds better than a crap Versa with no center arm rest or cruise control.

Get the Mustang. I had a rental a couple of times. Base trim, of course, but still fun. Rental base subcompacts are like being banished to Hell.

Mustang, obviously.

Last year I expensed a Masarati rental that was only $15 more than the Versa. Totally worth it.

300 HP and RWD is most definitely $10 better than a Versa haha

Mustang. When the upgrade is so inexpensive you’ll kick yourself every time you get in and out if you stick with the shitty subcompact.

It is $2.50 a Day. $10 total. Not chancing getting stuck in a shit Aveo.

I get in at 11:30 pm then drive 150 miles. Don’t want to deal with it.

I have never seen the mustang so cheap. I was looking at renting one when I was on the CA coast but couldn’t spring the extra $300. I guess it is because everybody wants the 4 doors for the family.

Plus maybe winter? Not sure if winter is a thing in your area haha. The last two times I rented on my own dime I upgraded to a Mustang at Budget. I had to drive over 1000 miles each time so I’m very glad I had something better than an economy car. I got an EB premium both times and it made a perfect touring car. Plenty of passing power, people seemed to get out of my way, good MPG, and if you hold down the traction control toggle for 10 seconds you can do really awesome burnouts/donuts... or so I’m told ;).

Are you renting from Rent-A-Wreck, because they don’t make the Aveo any longer?

Sometimes Enterprise will have special pricing I guess? Honestly I didn’t ask, I just booked it hoping it was a mistake they wouldn’t catch.
