It looks better? It looks better. Yea. I was trying to convince myself and the grill is more in line with the current offerings. But yea it got a nip/tuck for the new model year. No changes for the engine though. Its still offered with the base 2.0 turbo I4 with 245 horses or the bigger and more powerful 2.3 with 285 horses

Kinja'd!!!

Nothing was done to the rear though. And that interior is still terrible:

Kinja'd!!!

It does get the Black Lablel trims that I love though. From Lincolns press release, there are 3:

Modern Heritage: A timeless ensemble of elegance without ostentation, Modern Heritage is perfect for those who appreciate a clean, modern aesthetic. This theme features seats in Vianca White Venetian leather finished with the Lincoln Black Label star insignia, with Argento wood accents.

Indulgence: A rich, sumptuous interior, this theme is designed to match the most refined tastes. Visually enticing, Indulgence features surfaces trimmed in Venetian leather and Alcantara ® cloth, in tempting hues like Truffle and Ganache, finished with accents from rich Ziricote wood – the same as you might find in the world of yachts or musical instruments.

Center Stage: Inspired by the fashion of the theater, Center Stage captures the excitement of a curtain skirting across the main stage on opening night. It features an exclusive diamond-L perforation pattern on the Alcantara cloth inserts, finished with precisely stitched Foxfire Red piping. Exotic wood accents enhance the architectural design, while Jet Black Venetian leather accented by Firefox Red adds a dramatic flair.

Cool. But anyway, no word yet on pricing, but I’m assuming it’ll be at the LA Auto Show and go on sale sometime early in ‘18.

The wheels in the first pic look to be at least 20s if not larger. This trend is getting old. I get going for bigger wheels for styling purposes but too many cars are starting to look like wagon wheels. The extra weight and skinny sidewalls worsen ride comfort and replacement tires are super expensive.

This, the MKX,MKZ and Navigator are just fancy Ford’s still to me. Though the new gen of Navigator has done well to distance itself from being just an Expedition in a nice suit. The Continental is actually them trying and I love it.

The new Continental is gorgeous, I never thought I would say that.

Yea I hate it too. 21 and 22' wheel options are super common now and I dont like it. Replacements are crazy expensive like you mention and make for shit ride quality and depending on how you drive, they wear faster. Ford was one of the automakers that started it( along with the Infiniti FX) with the first gen Edge Sport and its 20' wheel option:

Kinja'd!!!

Every gen of Edge Sport has shit ride quality because of the huge wheels.

Yeah the conti is a winner, on interior class if not chassis.

The old one screamed airport to me, but lately I’ve seen other people actually buying these instead of an S class or something. In SF I never saw older Contis as personal cars, I do now. That alone tells me they will sell more of these than just the fleets. I love the door handles, I have to stop myself from stroking someone’s car when walk by a parked one. If I was buying something new, I would probably get it over a Merc, and that’s saying something. They actually made these interesting, I don’t find an S class interesting.

Yea Im glad Ive been seem them with private owners and not from the Hertz Platinum Collection at the airport. That says a lot. I would get one over a CT6 thats for damn sure and even an S Class or 7. The S Class is so much THE go to for well over luxobarge daily drivers that its become boring to me.

Looks much better. Briefly considered the MKX (aka fancy Edge) for my wife’s new car, but couldn’t find a 2016+ one close to our budget. Additionally, I’d have been all sorts of pissed when it gets this nose to replace the winged nonsense.

Were all the ‘16's too pricey for what they were?

I don’t know about that, but we weren’t looking to spend more than $30k, and really hoping to be in the mid-$20k range. They haven’t fallen that far just yet. 2016 was their redesign to the updated Edge platform, and most of the used ones were still north of $30k. Checked a new one out at the auto show and it was really very nice.

That tailgate looks good with it’s wide opening but the lack of lights under the tailgate would make this a concern this side of the pond.

Kinja'd!!!

I know it’s not a thing on all cars with this sort of tailgate but I like the Vauxhall/Opel way of doing it.

I dunno, the winged grille gave it some visual width to help spread out its roundness. Now it just looks fat and bloated with too much lipstick; much like some aunts who drive them to Thanksgiving dinner, I’m sure.

I really love the new front end and the new MKC is on my short list. But then when I start thinking about dropping $50k for a Black Label MKC or the same amount on a new Tundra Platinum it starts to make less sense. I know they aren’t direct competitors aside from the fact that they both live on my short list of cars. They truck would be infinitely more useful but I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Lincolns. ¯\_()_/¯

‘Tailgate puddle light’? as is lights to shine on the ground or inside the tailgate ones that light up the interior space?

Interesting because ford is on board with tail lights on if hatch is up as my focus has tail lights on with any door hatch or hood open

Yea it starts to make less sense when you think that to get any style and substance out of it you have to drop Continental money for a compact crossover. Get the Tundra and never look back.

Oh you meant inside the rear cargo area? I dont know why I thought you meant cars across the pound had lights under the rear bumper to illuminate puddles.

Ye’, some cars which have all the lights on the tailgate/bootlid, some have lights on the vehicle that replicate the ones on the tailgate/bootlid for when it’s open so if transporting a large item that requires the tailgate/bootlid to be propped open, all functions of the vehicle are visible to other road users.

Must be a regulatory thing. Cars here will have puddle lights under the side view mirrors, though as of late its become a gimmicky option that have pretty much turned those lights into ground projectors that project a logo or something.

Kinja'd!!! "Svend" (svend)
11/22/2017 at 15:07, STARS: 0

If you mean the estate car, yes as you know some are on the bootlid but functions such as brakes, sidelights, hazard lights and indicators are on the rear frame with some of the functions (side and brake lights) replicated and reverse light on the bootlid.

We have puddle lights on the underside of the mirrors and doors.

Mine has both.

It’s hard to make out from the front shot of the mirror light.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

There are lights all over the damned place, footwell lights, mirror lights, interior roof lights, puddle lights. I think I counted 21 extra lights over and above the standard headlights, rear lights and repeaters.

and a removable rechargeable led light/torch in the rear left of the boot.

Kinja'd!!!

Also. The other year I finally found what that hook is for on the underside of the rear parcel shelf. It’s to hold the strap to the floor when you have it raised when your changing a tyre.

11/22/2017 at 16:05, STARS: 0

I actually kind of like all those lights. I could definitely use them. The street I live on is unusually dark because the cities been too lazy to come and put in the led lights. That hook is ingenious.

The lights are good and a great idea, but some of them are tricky to replace.

It’s a common thing on hatchbacks though doesn’t appear on the Focus.
