To bill a client for a well at my old job I used pivot tables. Is this job I give a presentation to the VP of manufacturing every Thursday. How do I make that presentation? You guessed it, pivot tables.
I haven’t used my facebook since mid-2015, but I was looking back at some of the old shit I had on there and came across this.

I’m sure CS1371 made them the hard way, I hated them then. Now, they are super useful. I redid our downtime tracking sheet and used a bunch of pivot tables.

I just found it really ironic that I posted something like this years ago and now use them a lot. It went from taking me like an hour to do a well ticket to something like 5 minutes.

School tends to do that - TBH, pivot tables didn’t exist when I was in college, I just learned them on the fly at work. Spared me the pain of dealing with that in a classroom.

Apparently I had to learn then for something in school. It obviously didn’t stick because I had to relearn them at my old company. Someone showed them to me and I was like you can do that? I must learn.
It’s also possible that we were manipulating them with MATLAB, and I had no idea how to do that. As you can see, I didn’t do well in that class:

I would like to point out it was pretty much spot on.
I was thinking about making a post about it, maybe tomorrow, or later tonight when I’ve had a little to drink.

You know, it would be good to have a dating site where car people can meet up - unfortunately, it’s about 90% guys on here, which is fine if you’re a woman or gay, but not for straight guys. Oh well-

Pivot tables are fantastic. I built one for analyzing our employees’ skill sets and experience. As the division president was describing what he needed to see in our next conference call, I was making the updates to the table. I knew he wasn’t watching the screen. When he finished, I said, “like this?” He looked at the screen and instantly became my biggest fan.
