story time
sold an impreza with timing belt failure.
first buyer tried towing it llike that, it crab walked like crazy and guy was pissed.
luckily, a second buyer was on the scene (craigslist is first come first serve) and he took it for the same price. drove it off with valves smashing into pistons (he planned to replace the whole drivetrain) laughing

When they called yesterday to schedule pickup, the lady asked if they could tow it, then corrected herself and said “we need a flatbed, it’s AWD.”
Unfortunately, she needed to send the flatbed that didn’t already have a 4Runner on it...

He could of just put dollies beneath the wheels. I witnessed a tow truck driver in Boston towing an Outback (not wrecked, probably just a parking violation) like this and cringed - and it’s Boston where every 2nd car is either a Subaru or AWD - tow truck drivers just give zero fucks.

The right front is definitely toast, and the car is probably a total, but the carrier hasn’t looked at it and officially deemed it a “total” yet. (Knowing this carrier, they’ll write a half-assed estimate, say it’s repairable, tow it back to me, and I’ll write up everything they missed and tell them no, it is in fact a total, and they’ll tow it back to the salvage yard).
The other kicker is the poor slouch who buys a used transmission from that salvage yard, installs and finds out it’s toast, then finds out that there’s no warranty on labor from a salvage yard. Womp womp.
