I’m not going to connect it to the internet because it might take forever to load a page.

OS X 10.4.11, and it’s an iBook so it’s all white plastic.

When did the Mac OS go Intel only? I’ve got a couple of old G4 towers that I need to plug in sometime. One is still running some flavor of OS 9. Not sure what the other one has on it. My wife wants me to get rid of them, but no dice.

OBVIOUSLY it’s running the DEC OpenVMS 7.1, using Motif Window Manager with a virtual machine with Mac OS 9 loaded.

Probably around 2009/2010 when they started using the dual core 64bit i5. I have a 2010 or 11 Mac book pro and it still holds its own against my work issued 2 year old Dell.

Switch happened in 2006. Last version of Mac OS to support Power PC was 10.5 (10.4 was the first version to support x86).

Os 10.5 supported Intel and G4 machines . 10.6 and up are Intel only.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X_Leopard

 this may helpful if upgrading:

https://everymac.com/systems/by_capability/maximum-macos-supported.html

If I remember right 10.4 is faster on g4 machines than 10.5 since it has less graphics/ram requirements.

I remember the jump from G3's in middle school to the g4's in high school being mind-blowing, so much more performance and more professional looking.

They were miles ahead of PC’s at the time.

I remember when my grade school jumped straight from Apple ][s to Power Mac 5200s, that was a bit of an upgrade.
