This looks like a Chinese knockoff of the early 00s RX300. Or maybe the RX300 looks like the cheap Chinese knockoff of this. Either way, those videos were amusing.

We don’t call them Rollux down here in Oz for nothing...though it was usually given to the old solid axle versions.

Even so it’s a problem that still has not entirely been dealt with...this was a swerve test at 60 km/h

I’ve been wondering lately if an active weight transfer system would work for larger SUVs and trucks. Something like 50 or 75lb weights that can move left or right mounted on the underside. So when you go into a hard turn, the weights move towards the inside to help keep the truck level.

A gimbaled flywheel is usually whats used to counteract roll on large pleasure boats.

I wonder if its a consequence of high spring rates for the weight? I know the lux is rated for a lot more weight in the bed than the Comparable mid size truck here in the US.

My aunt can attest to this. She got t boned by an Aveo at 20 km/h and flipped.

Really shows it’s Hilux roots and I guess that generation didn’t have ESP, here it was called “Fortuner”, I guess you have to be fortunate to not roll it.

Not sure what the issue is with the modern example though I suspect that the modern solution of ‘throw some fancy electronics at it because suspension design is expensive’ might play a part.

In the old ones, it was a combination of high centre of mass, unladen spring rates, limited sway control and driver error.
