Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

MCM approved?

Anyway. As the guy suggested who’s name I don’t know how to spell (the one with the old saab, but not as old as Berang’s old Saab. Also I think has a Chihuahua as an avatar I think.) suggested. I got some heated the nut with propane than got some keyboard duster, turned it upside down and sprayed it on the inner tie rod and then heated the nut again and it came off with only reasonable force!

And I tried getting it off after each step. So I know I had to do all three in that order to get it.

But anyway. I think the upper control arms came in today. So now I have to decide if I wanna study/do homework then go to class or do the upper control arms. Although I’m sure I could do them before I have to leave for class, I’m too lazy for that shit.

And before I forget. The post repair victory song.

I resent this. Miles is not a purse dog! (though he loves them, which is... odd)

That said, glad it worked out for you! The canned air thing is my new favorite trick.

That was pretty brilliant. Just hope I never have to use it.

Hopefully this goes without saying, but make sure you actually grease it before driving. It very likely is not fully packed from the factory and in any case will benefit from a pump or two of fresh grease.

Congratulations, but did you install that ball joint upside down?.....

This is how I recall them sitting. Notice the note about the reverse thread.

Not unless the previous owner did. Which I doubt, because I put the new one’s on the side they were labeled for and they were bowed the same way as the old ones. I think they changed the tie rod style during the sixth gen. Because I remember watching one video were the tie rod had a nut type thing at the very end, instead of just the flat part around the middle.

Plus it definitely wasn’t reverse threaded.

I just double checked the Haynes manual. And it shows them “upside down” too.

Maybe the 4 cyl and V6s were different?

Congrats! I hope you put some anti-seize on the threads. If not, it’s still not too late to back off the jam nut before sending it off to get an alignment.
