Tell me about it, I just hooked up all the cars to power for Toyota at the auto show and all the damn hybrids had them in the back or under a back seat. I had to route the cables through drain holes. One had to come out because no route that was hidden.

Just drill holes in the floor. Auto show cars always come back with weird ass damage and missing parts anyways...

My jeep has the battery under the passenger seat.

Which is all nice and good, unless you have power seats and, you know, have no power

This is why we beat Germany a few months sooner than the Japanese.

Better than the $300-$500 battery + $xxx to register the battery on newer bimmers.

My car puts the battery in the trunk, but in the spare tire well. That makes it easier to get to, but also seems like it would be really easy for something to slide around and end up shorting the terminals. Older versions had a cover over the battery but mine just has a little cover over the positive terminal, which doesn’t actually protect it well. Thanks Ford cost-cutting!

On the other hand, you can jump the car or someone else from either end of the car. can be helpful.

All car batteries are $150 now. The nice thing is that they have a 3 year warranty. I managed to kill one in about 6 months (I didn’t drive the car and the battery was reading 0.3V). Brought it back to Advance auto, and they gave me a new one :)

To be fair batteries I’ve had in recent cars that were NOT under the hood have lasted 8+ years, so there is something to be said for the additional protection. I had one OEM battery at 10 years old before it died!

I don’t know how old this battery was but it came with the car so at least 3 years.

It was $180 before the core deposit. That’s more than the car is worth.

I think I paid $200 from the dealer the last time I replaced the battery in the E46. I paid just over $450 for battery and registration on my now former E90M3 and that was a deal!...The dealer wanted $700

I had to remove a body panel to replace the battery in a Corvette last week.

(In all fairness it was an easier job than what you’re dealing with.)

I did the same change for my friend’s 2002, wasn’t that bad, just a few scrapes on my hand. Found the right battery at Walmart with the right vent.

Can’t you just do it with ISTA-D? Or was that just the F-cars?

I’m sure you can, but finding info on it was difficult when I was looking to do it (2013) it was also my only car at the time so I let my inde guy do it. He only charged me for a half hour.
