Mine wasn’t great. Was meeting someone to sell my e30 when she caught fire. Insurance ain’t covering it so yeah.

She’s for sale if anyone wants a project car...

Here’s a video of when it happened:

And a video of how she sits now:

And from happier times when I had big plans for her:

What!? Why did they cut the car apart?

The hood release mechanism melted. So they had to cut the latches. (E30s have a front mounted hood so it tilts forward like an old Saab.)

Why isn’t your insurer covering it?

I dropped full comprehensive on it a couple weeks ago when I bought my e39 M5. I thought it was smart to save the ~$25 every 6 months. Now I’m out basically $2k. So yeah, not a smart move on my part.

Yikes. Sorry to hear that, I thought it was a coverage denial, but if the coverage isn’t there to begin with. I’m really sorry to hear that.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Oh well, you live and you learn I guess. I’m just kicking myself that I did it literally two weeks ago so I could save so little.

I knew they hinged forward. I had an E30 once upon a time, but spraying that much water into the grill didn’t put the fire out? mean, that still seems excessive...

I think they just wanted to use “the saw”...

Yeah I was amazed that they still wanted to get in there but I guess it’s their job to be thorough.

I believe a lot of it was they wanted to disconnect the battery but didn’t realize it was in the trunk...

I briefly read this as your prospective buyer catching fire.

I enjoyed watching the saw slide across the parking lot near the end.
