We haven’t yet locked down what that will be. This just popped up for sale a few miles from us, and not only would he be the biggest baller in the HS parking lot with a LWB V-12 Jaaag, but it’s actually the lowest mileage car for sale in his budget near us. Of course the reason for that is that the car is more or less guaranteed to write itself off with repair costs within the first year, but damn if it isn’t pretty. Also, remember a time when a 6.0 V12 could only produce 318 horsepower? It’s about the smoothness of the thing, I suppose.

Full disclaimer: There’s no way in hell he’s getting this car.

There’s probably a good reason it has so few miles.

A rich person who had 5 other cars probably owned this, and it probably broke often.

It’s an auto. But he could do a swap eventually.

I didn’t have my own car until I went to graduate school. My dad bought it and I paid him back over four years.

Annual reminder: The Jag V12 is a 500 hp engine with 300 horsepower intake & exhaust system. Remember that thing was designed in the 70s during the oil crisis.

Do you like doing transmission work? Because this is how you get stuck doing transmission work..

I think air bags might be a good idea on a first car.

The late inline 6 cylinders engines were very reliable. You should check for XJ6/XJ40/X300 cars in your area and price. (They are on my to buy list when I have money.)

Ironic, given that the tranny in this is (if I recall correctly) a GM unit and not one designed by those finicky Brits.

Yes but the rest of the car surrounding the engine gives cause for concern.

Ah yes, the 4L80e. Because nothing says British refinement quite like a transmission developed for a cargo van...

That fine Corinthian Leather! I’d drive it to mechanical failure then pull the seats and put them in my man cave.

True, but the I6 engine is one thing to worry about less than the V12.

I need to stop looking up XJ Jaguars now.

Technically the inline-6 is 6 less things to worry about than the V12.

“The late inline 6 cylinders engines were very reliable.”

... compared to the dreadful reliability of the earlier ones.
