Got the rotating assembly in. Everything spins freely. Camshaft is in, cam chain is in, oil pump has been cleaned out. Tomorrow I hopefully get my #6 rod back from the shop and I can buy a new pushrod, new head dowels (mysteriously absent from one side), more brake cleaner, and weld the oil pickup in place. Also got the heads cleaned off and all mating surfaces nice and smooth and clean.

I’m sorry but did you say the head dowels were missing from one side? So the engine was assembled on one side just wherever the head ended up?
