Really I think this is the best way to go as far as working on the car yourself. Next upcoming purchase will be a quality torque wrench, and not one from Habor freight. I’m going to do the head gasket myself and save some money in the long run. These are $300-500 on eBay that’s expensive for a 13 year old car

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Hopefully it’s in good enough shape it’s still useful. I had one for metro and Cherokee and VW Rabbit (got moldy and plan on buying another).

That’s a good use of funds. I’m waiting for a 2004 Tahoe factory manual to show up on eBay for less than the $350 everybody wants.

When I saw how comprehensive the shop manual for my Mustang was, it made me wish that I had never wasted money on a Chilton book.

Mine came in PDF format, and the best part is that it’s text-searchable. Unfortunately, it only contained 2 out of 3 volumes pertaining to the car- I’m still missing the “Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis” manual...

Try amazon, the ones on eBay were $300-500 when I say the one on eBay I thought it may be a cd rom thing. It says paperback though, so there’s that.

Buying the assembly manual for my Camaro was invaluable. That let me see how things were supposed to be put together instead of how some rando did it 20 years ago after downing a six pack.

I like that Ford’s manuals are easily found online as a searchable PDF. Makes finding what you need easy

Head gasket on a transverse V6? Hell, I couldn’t even change the spark plugs on the Windstar from above, so I can’t imagine how challenging a head gasket would be. Dropping that sucker out will probably save you a lot of pain.

I’ve thought about it and not sure if I can get the car up high enough to drop it out. I’ve changed the plugs once on this. And there is a YouTube I’ve it being done in the car.

Once I get the rabbits out and jeep shuffled over I’ll see what I have to work with. I do have a cherry picker though.

Well that third volume isn’t quite so easy to find. I’m not sure if it even exists in PDF form. But my car’s been fairly reliable, so I haven’t needed it.

...until now, lol. I ran into a mysterious intermittent crank/no-start issue recently, and ended up running to the forums for help. I spent some time googling too, and while I still haven’t found that third volume, it looks like I’ll be replacing the distributor soon. God bless the internet.

I’d be screwed without the internet.
