I still remember the first time I went shooting, (which is still the only time, unless you count pellet guns, actually) I never once missed my target. I signed up for my high school rifle team and (using an air gun) got 6 out of 9 bullseyes during my tryout. They said they would have taken anyone who just managed to hit that many targets . Something happened where I couldn’t compete, though, which sucked for everyone involved.
But yeah, I really couldn’t care for guns and somehow I’m really good with them. Funny how it works that way.

With all the attention guns have gotten its easy to not care for them but in the end its not the tool that does evil. I have great memories of family bonding around guns as recreation. My dad never cared to hunt nor was under the dilusion of a gun as home security tool or some kind of deterant, it was always just the satisfaction being together with his boys outside teaching responsible behavior and skill. I realize what guns can do, but they’ve never been anything but a possitive influence in my life.
Despite their existance as wholely designed killing machines, the vast majority of users enjoy them with totally benign intent. I mean the bow and arrow was also designed to kill only but its a totally benign and enjoyable hobby today.
Not saying im against responsible ownership and use regulation, or that i dont understand and respect your distaste for guns (my wife hates them so they are locked in a safe offsite out of respect for her wishes), but i am a little sad that kept you from developing an obviously natural talent.

Oh, it’s not really that. (You do make some excellent points, though!) I just never found them particularly interesting. I do plan to own one someday, but I have no real interest in anything specific. I just enjoy target shooting, and I do want to get into it eventually. The only thing keeping me from doing so, as of now, is the cost.
I think I’m going to end up getting mine through a storage locker auction, eventually. I like to buy and sell, and once I’m out of this apartment and have a yard of my own, I’m going to build a shed and work out of there refurbishing things. So I’ll probably never get around to buying a gun specifically, but if and when I find a decent rifle, I’ll probably keep it.
As a side note, though, I do feel a bit uneasy keeping one around. It’ll be stored in one safe with the ammo in another. Can never be too careful.

Well thats fair. To wit I have never purchased a gun, mine was a transfer from my dad. They want over $800 for it new. Pass. Not to mention the cheapest ammo it can fire is about $2.40 per cylinder. Before when .22 was cheap that was the way to have fun on the range, now shotgun shells are. Strange. Either way, its a nice way to carry on the fun with the hobby without having to break the bank
