You got to give to Honda. They pushed in all their chips on this gen’s polarizing Civic design. Love em or hate em, they’re selling like hotcakes here. Hoping for a bit of a comeback for the hatchback across the US.

Here’s one I took on an extended test drive. Only thing that stopped me from signing the papers was a wife who said it was too small and that I’m not 25 anymore. She didn’t outright say no... But she basically outright said no.

I’ve seen a few. Personally I think white is the worst color for them, but I really like them in black. I like them in blue and red as well, but Crystal Black Pearl is just a great color.

Yep, both in WA and TX I see way more Civics than Corollas. Which makes me happy, because having driven both the Civic is much better to drive.

I personally think the sedan looks like a midlife crisis, the exhaust finisher and underbody spoilers look out if place on it. The coupe, however, is a beauty. I would still take the sedan, but would prefer the coupe.

As usual for the Si, the sedan looks much better than the coupe. If only they’d properly hatch/wagonize it, they could really expand their demographic.

It seems weird that they are sticking with the Type R only on the hatch. Hopefully the rumors of a Type R with less stupid bodywork for $2k less coming out next year are true, but I think it’s a stretch.

That over a GTI? For pure styling, the Honda’s are a hot mess. The GTI is more timeless and sleek. All those crazy creases and such.... nah, Honda should’ve left the crazy angles and edges to cadillac styling folks. But that’s just like my opinion man...

It looks a bit more subtle in white, but I can’t help but imagine the design process was looking at a wadded-up ball of aluminum foil, unballing it a bit, drawing in a greenhouse, and adding wheels.
It also suffers from Crosstouritis, that is, too much rear overhang and visual weight for the dimensions.
Wow, that G35 looks tiny in comparison.

They could also be selling because folks are bored of their older Civics and wanted something newer, even if it is ugly. The Crosstour sold in more volume and for a longer time than I expected, after all.

Sure, but the Si is a much more likely daily car—something I might buy if I wanted a new car in the low-$20s, and have it as my only car.
In the Type R’s price bracket there are many more interesting and less obnoxious alternatives, especially if you bring used cars into the equation.

That’s true. But I’d still take the Type-R for its overall performance. After all, it is the king of the (FWD) ‘Ring. But that doesn’t mean the Si isn’t a great car, I was actually looking at one earlier.
