Probably varies by jurisdiction. The light is required to be put in a certain place by the regulation put on manufacturers. End user modification doesn’t apply.

That’s a fog light that either has been wired as a brake light or the driver is driving with fogs on.

Not necessarily fitted to North American Hondas but often fitted by Honda owners for JDM or EDM look.

That doesn’t look like a fog light situation. Here where those are common (or mandatory) driving with one turned on a good visibility conditions give you similar amateur driver image than driving with a motorcycle with constantly blinking turning indicator.

The front fog lights are different thing. You are supposed to look cool while driving them on. Of course any fog lights are illegal to use here if visibility is good.

I have no idea if rear fog light turned on is a cool thing among car enthusiasts in US.

It was very much wired as a brake light- it had two stages and got brighter when they were braking, and the stock CHMSL was missing.

Doesn’t look like a fog light situation but that’s not to say they haven’t got them on to stand out in the ridiculous fanboy scene.

Just as likely is as I say they’ve wired them up as auxiliary brake lights, again for the fanboy scene.

Either way, here in the U.K. It would be illegal. For either driving with a fog light on when visibility dictates otherwise to it’s use or for altering a light from it’s initial use in that if it’s being used as an auxiliary brake light then they have no rear fog light.

Not legal here. No idea what’s legal with you I’m afraid.

In that case while daft, it probably isn’t illegal as having a rear fog light isn’t a legal requirement as far as I’m aware in the U.S.

I see tons of WRX’s and Toyobarus modifies like this around here. In fact I probably see it more than the stock high location at this point. So if it is illegal, nobody seems to be enforcing it.

It’s possible that his OEM center brake light was inside the stock spoiler (which appears to have been replaced with that hideous wing). Better than running no center brake light at all I suppose.

Third brake light is a NHSTA rule. It would depend on the state’s inspection. You can violate any manufacturer safety law freely (such as removing your airbags) but not if it violates state inspection.

PA for instance only requires two stop lights, one on each side of the vehicle.
