Here are the official results from my post last week regarding cars that you would purchase if they were “perfectly” reliable.

5. 1983 Jaguar XJ12, that fine corinthian leather.

4. Ferrari Testarossa, the entry price may be steep, but damn what a dream come true.

3. FD RX-7, Need I say anything more? One of my dream cars as a teenager.

2. E60 BMW M5 V10, one of my dream cars as an adult.

1. Audi All-Road. Because everybody needs a reliable family car, any why so many people buy Subaru Outbacks.

I use my time fixing my cars not so much driving them. So reliability isn’t a very big issue. I like all of your examples except the Allroad as there’s isn’t a single point in those that would make them interesting.

Definitely the FD! I still want to own one either way, regardless of it being reliable I have to have one some day and not put an LS in it. The only problem is doubt they are ever going to get cheaper.

God, I glanced at Craigslist yesterday looking at Jags and one was a $1200 XJS with a reliable SBC 350. I almost had stupid thoughts of purchasing.
