why are Tesla (actually Elon Musk) fans so self-congratulatory? Do you actually believe you’ve personally accomplished something by liking this company?

‘cos gloating about something you did is already pretty crass; gloating about someone else is really dumb.

At this point, I wouldn’t doubt that Bob is familiar with little blue pills.

Me? Dude, I have no vested interest in their success, and have little desire to ever own a Tesla... I’ll stick with my hydrocarbon-guzzling M3, thanks! I think the company is way overvalued, as Lutz does, and probably on the brink of implosion. But as someone who keeps up on all things automotive, can’t deny that it’s fascinating to watch, and that it will be incredible if he actually turns this thing into a profitable business in the end.

I’m no Tesla fanboy, but the no dealer network part is a plus, not a minus. That’s my #1 favorite thing about the company.

LOL at Lutz saying GM you can count on quality. Don’t get me wrong, Tesla’s build quality is abysmal, but still, GM interiors are nothing to brag about, either.

Oh, and Tesla doesn’t CRUSH their electric cars after three years.

It’s like shouting “we won” towards your favorite sports team....while eating nachos and dip in front of your TV.

If that’s the case he’s doing rather well for himself if he’s got many blue pills.

So what if the batteries are the same? That’s just a “fun fact”, not an indicator of Tesla being a “losing enterprise”.

My motivation to share it? Because it’s interesting and I figure others would find it interesting - isn’t that why we’re all here?

“There is no secret sauce in Tesla. They use the same lithium-ion batteries as everybody else,” he said.”

And Lutz has just proven that he has no idea of what he’s talking about... about both Tesla and lithium-ion batteries. There are some significant differences. Here’s an article that does a comparison:

https://cleantechnica.com/2016/01/06/a-tale-of-3-battery-packs/

And as an IT person with 20+ years of experience, I can say with confidence that it isn’t just about having a given bit of tech, it’s also about how well it’s implemented/integrated.

And Lithium-ion batteries come in many different types... not just in terms of packaging, but even chemistry:

Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that they’re progressing, when it comes to battery management, at a crazy pace. Maybe it was Alex Roy’s article in response to Doug’s review?
