So a quick update:

Saabaru is dead. Headgaskets. Probably started almost a year ago and now it’s just too bad. So selling it for cheap.

MR2 was sold last night. That hurt. New owner flew in from CO, and drove it back. Ballsy, props. Haven’t heard anything so either firey death or it made it.

Taurus may be sold, maybe. I hope.

New ride? Yeah, 2014 Mazda6 Grand Touring. Soul red, every option either factory or dealer installed. Did the CarMax thing, 5 year/125k mile warranty. First car that wasn’t a decade old or more, first car with a warranty, all that.

Holy balls, this thing is super nice. The MR2 had heated leather and Bluetooth, but that’s nothing compared to blind spot monitoring and radar assisted cruise control.

The bad is it is still used with 42k miles, tons of rock chips on the hood, and no undercoating plus the exhaust is already rusted.

Damn this thing is cool.

That is really nice! 42k is not bad the least miles I’ve had on a car so far is 123K.

Stone chips are easy. Get some iso propyl alcohol and wipe the area free of grease and contaminants, then using the correct colour coded paint, stipple in the paint with a pointed cocktail stick.

Should be good for a long while, I was a Mazda tech for a couple years and those things are pretty solid.

Yeah the idea is buy a paint stick from Mazda while I’m there for recall work and then she is getting washed with Dawn soap, clayed, stone chips filled, polished, and waxed before snow hits. Also some undercoating.

My mr2 had 82k when I bought it, the rest of my cars have been at or near 200k. My 4runner is currently at 296k

Make sure the paint contains the lacquer.

If it doesn’t, mix 60% paint with 40% lacquer and shake well.

If there isn’t a clear in the paint, I’ll probably just use some spray can clear coat and wetsand it.

The trouble with not mixing lacquer with the paint is you apply the paint then flatten it to down, then apply the lacquer and then flatten it down, if you flatten the lacquer level to what was already a flattened surface, you’d almost certainly remove the lacquer. If you get what I’m saying.
