It’s a show about cars and drifting, with some dope Super Eurobeat music . The use of cgi for the cars is distracting at first because it isn’t the best but, I eventually got used to it. You can stream it free on Funimation’s website. https://www.funimation.com/shows/initial-d/

I can honestly say that I probably wouldn’t be in to Japanese cars if I hadn’t watched this back when I was in middle school/high school. Hell, Initial D is what changed a solid interest in cars into an obsession for me.

Hot take: Couldn’t stand Initial D. And I like anime. It was just a snoozefest. Watched a couple episodes, but couldn’t finish.

I did really like the live-action movie version though. It was cartoony-campy in the same way as the Wachowski’s Speed Racer . I think it worked better than the series because it distilled the story into a more focused concept.

How did you feel about Speed Racer (the 2008 movie)? I feel like people are strongly in one camp or another on this movie, and I think it follows the Initial D trend pretty close.

In the English dub there’s garbage hip hop in place of eurobeat :(

You thought the live action was like Speed Racer? I thought it generally had practical effects.

Heck, I even liked the English dub version as well of that movie.
