Golf is intolerable to watch. Playing golf is good, if it fills a specific niche for you. The walking & talking with occasional bouts of effort fit for some people.
I much prefer a place like Topgolf . That way you can make more complicated games out of driving, it’s easier for a wider array of friends, etc.
eSports is straight up dumb as a spectator sport, and silly as a player sport. I use to hold court amongst friends playing games like Mario Kart and Mortal Kombat. But part of the fun was continually mixing up the games. Spending so much time on a single video game discipline always seemed like a way to kill the fun.

Golf is a drinking game, not a sport. Positively painful to watch but not bad to play.
Baseball straddles that line too. It’s at least got a toehold on “sport” but still imo it’s more of a drinking game

Golf is awesome, but that is because you legally get to drive a vehicle with a beer in your hand and walk around a pleasant place with grass and trees and whack things with sticks. Anywhere else that conduct gets you in trouble as an adult. On the golf course they encourage it. They even send a girl around to constantly bring you more beer. This would be why I have a standing golf game with my favorite drinking buddy every Monday afternoon.

I’m definitely in the minority here, and I’m really only into alternative sports (surf, snow, skate). Still, I’d watch 36 holes of golf before I would watch 3 minutes of football.

Actually, I lied. He isn’t my favorite drinking buddy, but he is my favorite drinking buddy that can show up to a specific place at a specific time. In the borderland, that turns out to be a rarer quality than one might expect.

Pretty much, yeah. It’s also just a lot more straightforward when the ball lands on the green first thing, rather than having one or two fairway shots first.
