Just found it in my driveway. Looks like a hall sensor maybe? 3 potential vehicles it came from:
- 91 grand wagoneer (my gut)
- 91 bmw 325i
- 02 bmw 540iT
I was driving the 540i all day and no issues so I doubt that is it. I am wondering if maybe its the speed sensor off one of the others?

Looks like a temperature sending unit to me. Unless it’s magnetic...?

That’s a temperature sensor/temperature sending unit from your jeep.

I’d say coolant temp sensor but those don’t usually come out without a noticeable loss of coolant. Did the grand Waggy get a 4.0? Or would it still be carbed? If it’s got a carb you’ve got way fewer sensors. Possibly sender for the gauge... Maybe.

Ok seems right. Unit is still there on my jeep. Wondering if the old one dropped into some crevice and just fell out...

Yeah, was probably replaced at some point, they left it laying in the engine bay, and it just now fell out.

+1. I did the sender on my Yukon, dropped the old one and it wedged between the block and water pump. Eventually fell out when I changed the water pump.
