i had a clogged up sink. I used some stupid plastic thing you stick down the drain and its supposed to break up the clog, didn;t work. drain-o, didn;t work. got a plunger, shot water out the little hole near the top of the bowl. Took the P-trap apart, and water ran fine thru that. finally determined the blockage was after the trap, look inside the pipe going into the wall and it was just a black solid. Finally after hacking away at it i got 75% open. its almost like one of the kids dumped plaster or something down there. what an f’in mess

At the rental place I used to work, there was a horrifying anti-sink-clog device. I don’t remember the name of it, but it was basically a hydraulic hammer. You’d press it into the drain underwater, fill it up, and WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! on the handle.
Not saying that would have done the job, but I’m not saying it wouldn’t either. Might have just popped off the trap.

yea that sounds like a horrible thing that would lead to many more problems
