Debuting at the 2002 Tokyo Auto Salon, the Mazda Cosmo 21 was a concept based on the NB Miata chassis, with the Renesis 13b out of the RX-8. So about as close as we ever got to a factory rotary powered Miata. Personally I find it Too busy for my tastes but I’m kinda happy this exists. But eventually the Miata Coupe made it into limited production, rather than the Cosmo 21.

I’d love it if it had regular wheels and not giant “pimpin’” wheels.

I’m surprised somebody didn’t make an aftermarket fiberglass Cosmo 21 body kit for the Miata. Probably too obscure, and everyone wanted the BMW Z3 ones in those days.

I really want the Miata MPS concept.
It has an evolution of the Mazdaspeed C-Spec 1.8L motor including its ITBs, carbon fiber intake manifold, and putting out about 200 hp except this one has the NB2 VVT system as well!
