I never have to pay someone to detail my car again, nor will I ever work by hand again. I have seen the light and it is amazeballs! Can’t wait to see this epic shine and gloss in the sun tomorrow!

Welcome to the buzzy team.. there is much to learn.
I actually love the fact that you can get way into it or just do a quick detail and get good results.

I’ve been watching Michael Phillips on Autogeek and got a quick lesson and demonstration from my friend who owns a detailing shop. It’s much easier to use and harder to screw up than I imagined!

What polisher did you get and what products did you use? I recently got into detailing and I’m thinking of doing a little something on the side for some extra cash. I enjoy it so why not.

The DAs are very forgiving, and if you get one of the fancy ones like the rupes or the meguiars Bigfoot, you can do damn near as good as a rotary without risking burning the paint.
I’m still using a PC, but it does the trick for me. Someday I’d love to upgrade to the rupes, but I don’t have a good excuse to replace the one I have.

I just bought a cheap Chicago Electric from Harbor Freight and a couple pads for $80. I can only imagine how much better I could be with a PC or Rupes.

I used Meguiar’s M21 Sealant on a polishing pad. Conceptually, it made no sense but it actually worked brilliantly fixing the swirls and applying the coating.
My paste wax of choice is Collinite 476S though.

I used this cheap machine and a cheap polishing pad. Car was already clay bared and the paint wasn’t too swirled so I didn’t need a compound or polishing agent. The sealant I used was Meguiars M21.

That HF unit looks to be very similar to the PC, and for the price, it’s tough to beat. The rupes, that’s a whole other level.

With the HF unit, I went from a lvl.2 Dealer Porter to a lvl.20 Detailing Novice. But with that Rupes, the skies the limit.

I remember the first detail I did with a power buffer. It was a cheap craftsman deal, but I was amazed at how much better it was, vs hand applied. I can only imagine going from hand applied to a real random orbit polisher. The real difference with something like the rupes and the Bigfoot is it’s ability to cut down on time polishing because they can cut so well.
