The Niva is fully assembled for the first time since August, and ready to hit the road for the first time since like, January.

Good stuff.

Now to get it through an inspection to register in Alberta...

Dude, I, uh, hate to be the guy that tells you this, but.... You can see the cocaine you spilled all over the driveway in your shot.

Nah, naturally occurring. I just was too lazy to bag it for export.

They’re only required for out-of-province vehicles. Which is a bit of a piss-off, cause coming from Manitoba where a car needs to pass a safety inspection every time it changes owners, to a province where no inspections are required unless it’s from out of province and the amount of crap that’s rolling down the roads is ridiculous... Yeah. My Manitoba-registered junk is 1000% less sketchy than my Alberta-registered junk. And pretty much they’re saying that my junk is dangerous because it came from Manitoba, but they’re totally okay with me registering a $250 POS without a way to latch the driver’s door because it’s from Alberta so it must be good.

This is going to turn into a rant if I keep going. Although it may be too late. Lol.

Should I be encouraging or dissuading? Cause I could go either way.

For a while I’ve had the idea in the back of my mind that I should import a 2104 or such but the 4x4 is pretty appealing to the more I see it.

Yeah. I handed them a crumpled scrap of paper as my bill of sale and no one even so much as asked to look at it.

They’re pretty cheap in eastern Europe. I mean, the current 4x4 starts at like, US$8000 or something, brand new. I’ve been looking into it and I could have a decent later model with MPFI sitting in my driveway for $5000.

Needs to be ‘92 or older to get here, but that’s tempting still. The 2104 would be “oh that’s different” and otherwise probably not so good at, well, anything. With the Niva it would at least have the small 4x4 / offroad thing going for it which is cool (on top of nobody knowing what it is).
