I gave up on my bike after I bought a new wheel for it. It bent while I was putting the tire on. The old one never did that and I was rougher with it. The bike’s been sitting on my balcony since then.

Damn dude, that’s a shame! Was it a large diameter rim? because those are easily bent!

This is my old bike, the new one just bent a hanger.

I guess its because I’m a bit of an asshole with the bike (I spend most of my time jumping and I weigh about 210lbs) I think I should instead buy a light motocycle chasis, modify it into having pedals and deal with the heft.

wait, you ride with hub brakes and no suspension?

Edit: I just saw your rear brake line!

You sir have my respect! I wouldn’t be able to live like that!

Kinja'd!!!

Mine has so much shit attached to it it probably weighs as much as a honda Rokus

It works better than you’d think haha, though I don’t take it to trails, it’s just a comfortable cruiser. The BMX bars act as huge riser bars making it really laid back to ride, it eats up miles beautifully.

My previous bike was a Schwinn mtb bike with a front suspension. It was the worst bike I’ve ever owned. It’s uncomfortable no matter what you do, the wheels are flimy and heavy, and the frame is probably made out of lead.

The only thing I miss are the disc brakes. Stopped on a dime, and will probably keep it’s alignment even if you kick it down a cliff.

Your bike is very nice, I think you struck a good balance between comforts and simplicity.

Hmm, I understand the appeal of a simple, light bike. But if you ever get to see the roads in Mexico City you’d understand why I use this bike; I just run over the potholes and the speedhumps and I ride in a cushion of air. Granted its a hardtail bike, but its still very smooth.

I did have to switch out the handlebars because the stock one is for mountain biking and is wide as fuck, I couldn’t lane split correctly!

My LaPierre feels way lighter than the AluBike (mexican brand) I had before, despite being a way larger frame with larger rims. The AluBike had front and rear suspension so I guess that is one of the reasons it was heavier.

And about the disk brakes, damn, ever since I changed over to disks you realize what braking is.

I’m not sold on tubeless just yet, but I will look into it!

I switched a few months ago. So far I’m loving it. Huge noticable difference right away in traction and overall control.

I think my laPierre uses tubeless, but I’d have to check.

I just feel like it would be a pain in the ass if you get a puncture. I can recycle my thread and just change out the cheap-ass tube.

Oh, yeah. I live in a suburb in Phoenix that probably didn’t even exist a decade ago, so road quality is alright.

I remember when I was a kid in Ohio. The roads were dogshit and it actually rattled off bolts of the bike I had at the time. Again, it was a cheap shit bike, but it was hilarious.

Less likely to get a flat though, and an in\out puncture should just reseal itself right away.

Most wheels are machine-made and need to be hand trued and tensioned before use. If you bought it mail-order, those tasks fall to you. If you bought it through a shop, they should have taken care of it.

I don’t know how that feels. My bike only has 663 miles on it and it’s 9 years old. 662 of those miles were this year. I bought it new. :|

I’ve run tubeless for over 10 years on a mountain bike and never had a puncture. It’s a little bit of a pain because you have to check your air pressure every time you ride. The improvement in traction and ride quality is well worth it though. I do carry a tube with me in case the tire gets a huge hole in it.
