For $100 less than the base price of a base V6 S-Class

You could have this . Ok, so it’s more expensive to keep. I’d like to think that if I can afford a $90k car, I can cover the added running costs. Because I’d prefer the Bentley by a power of about a million.

Kinja'd!!!

Just look at that interior. Pure, unfiltered, opulence without sacrificing class.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

And it’s the Speed model, so that big ol’ W12 is good for 600hp and a top speed of over 200mph. Plus, at 13k miles, it’s not like it’s been run into the ground.

VW shift gate always looks cheap.

Lemme put it this way; that’s not exactly a dealbreaker for me.

Kinja'd!!!

So the above or a base Focus. I’d probably take the Focus since it does get a lot more than 9 mpg.

A FWD VW lol :p (sorry, I had to!)

Why not get an LS460 instead? MUCH better car

I tend to ignore the cheap tavarish-style ones, because they’re likely to cost EVEN MORE to keep up than the one I posted, plus if you’re on a Focus budget you’re less likely to be able to afford the repairs than if you’re on an S-Class budget.

Oh, you mean the RWD Toyota?

Because it’s more reliable and cheaper to run, and the new ones have more tech. Those are not the important factors I look for in a luxury car. The things I look for in a luxury car are style, comfort, exclusivity, power, and the x-factor. The Lexus LS460 is lacking in style and has no x-factor, and also can’t touch the Bentley for power.

Maintenance is probably at best third on the grand scale of why buying a Bentley with 170,000 miles is a bad idea. Insurance and fuel will do a substantially faster job of bankrupting you in the UK.

Plus if the engine blows, I’d just hang around Crewe until a dodgy geezer in a transit van rolls ups offering spare parts like they seem to around all UK car factories.

London, England, UK, Europe (currently pending), Earth, Solar System, Local Interstellar Cloud, Local Bubble, Orion–Cygnus Arm, Milky Way.

We tend to have comically cheap used cars here due to cars costing a bollocks load to own and a chronic lack of an export market.

Love the Aston as well, I guess it’s just a matter of whether you’re after sportiness or comfort.

Or for just $15k more you could have this. It may have more miles but that interior tho.

Don’t think cars cost more to own in England than here.

Is the lack of export market due to right hand drive or just lack of willing dealers?

Blech. All these modern Continentals are ugly and way heavier than their aluminum Audi A8 cousins. And there’s this...

The S450 gets to 60 in 4.8 seconds and has a better interior, along with looking better. I’ll take that.

These cars were pretty when they first came out, and they are ageing beautifully. Much, much better looking than the regular 2 door Conti. The probably dozen or so units that were sold over here still cost about the same as decent sized house though.

That is a proper car right there. 10/10 would buy before S Class.

In reality I’d get a 2012 Quattroporte GTS.
