Still being able to get fucking half doors on the two door Wrangler!!!! This almost makes me want to buy a new one, but no V8 and I can get a nice YJ (best model) for less than a tenth of the price

I built off a Willys Wheeler W (no I don’t what this package means) 2 door and came back with US$36,500 using an Arizona zip. I said yes to half doors...and a soft top.

But US$36,500 in Oz money is AU$47,800...and that sort of coin buys an awful lot of used Land Cruiser. Or a new dual cab pickup. And all of them come with a roof.

And then I built a 4 door Sport...with bigger tyres, diff lock, 3.73 diffs, tow package, half doors, uprated stereo, connectivity pack and LED lights and it comes out at US$35,000...

That pricing is weird...

do they still have the 4 cylinder engine option?

Willys Wheeler gives you the Mud Terrains from the Rubicon, 3.73 axle ratios with limited slip diff rear differential and rock rails and a few less important things.

In what way is a YJ better than a JK (or TJ)? Is it the square headlights, the leaf springs, the gutless, gas guzzling engines, the leaky tops or the AMC reliability?

If you say so.

All of the above! I had a ‘87 YJ 2.5 4cyl 5 speed and it was wonderful. Especially since the YJs didn’t didn’t get the 4.0 with FI till like 1991, but the 4cyl was new so it got FI. I just really like them all around.

I mean if I had the means/need yea. But me right now, no. I’d buy a Wrangler, I’d wait a year before doing that though.

Great off road, terrifying on road, and still worth $10k because Jeep.

I loved to fly on the freeway in mine. Nothing was scary about it at all even with the doors and top taken off. Mild body lift and 32" tires she was happy as a clam anywhere. Are the 10k? I sold mine 3.5 years ago for like $5,000 maybe less.... Even sold it with a new Bikini top and a hard top

Headlights. Because a) they look great and b) they drive Jeep purists nuts.

Fly on the freeway with a 2.5, no way.

I had a 97 to 2.5 5 speed on 31s and no way did that thing fly. Took everything it had just to get to 90 kmph (55mph). And the second you get an incline you would loose speed.

I then got a 97 Sahara 4.0 5 speed with 4 inch lift on 35s and that had no troubles at all keeping up with traffic

Technically that is buying a jeep not building it

Well something was wrong with yours then cause mine could get up to 65 or 70 after not too long. I know the slush boxes couldn’t, but my 5 speed did. It wasn’t the most fun at 70, but 65 was a decent ride.

True, but you have to buy a place to start building

Of course something was wrong, it had the 2.5...

Yours probably didn’t have the same gear ratio.

I like my 2.5
