For those out of the loop, the Discovery Channel announced the cancellation of the original Mythbusters back in 2015, with their final ep showing in March of 2016. Two weeks later, sister network Science announced they would be reviving the show with new hosts (feeling of dread) who were chosen on a reality show (feeling of dread, feeling of dread, feeling of dread). These two were announced as the winners:

Kinja'd!!!

And the new show starts tomorrow. All kidding aside, I am trying to go into this with an open mind (though that pic is not helping). Anyone else watching?

If it doesn’t have Ara Hamahara, Tori Chi, and Kari rari, I’m not interested.

I liked hat-guy (Brian?) a good deal, and I liked the professor guy better than the other half of the duo (Jon? On lunch, no time to look up the names). I wish they had kept one of the girls (the blonde marine biologist who got eliminated early seemed comfortable in front of the camera). I know Kari was a big draw for the old show and inspirational to many.

Nope, anything earned via winning a “reality” show is a red flag. This looks like typical network committee group-think crap.

I am religiously opposed to rewarding the shenanigans of people on “reality” shows by giving them work and legitimizing them.

All the way back when the first season of Survivor started, I prayed fervently that it would bomb so that we wouldn’t have what we do now on TV.

I thought it was the american way,

Well you do have a Reality TV star as president.

next election will be a American Idol style show with the winner becoming president. (not to far off from the truth actually)

The Donald was a public spectacle long before that show. Giving him a TV show was just the last nail in the coffin of American network entertainment.

he was forgotten before that show, sadly it put him back on the map.

He would have found another way. He loves being in the public eye.

Anyone who’s seen the original, and seen Grant Whateverhisnameis pretend to be an engineer, and building pneumatic devices he frequently called robots, and not wanted to punch his idiot face, deserves to watch this.

The show, while entertaining, pretty much just taught an entire generation of people how to do bad science. It was awful.

How do you even win a reality show? Nobody wins in reality .

To be fair, Grant technically is an engineer (electrical engineer). He also built the R2-D2 units used in the Star Wars prequels, as well as animatronics and models for The Lost World, the Matrix sequels, Terminator 3, Galaxy Quest, Van Helsing, and Craig Ferguson’s animatronic sidekick Geoff . Not to mention his battlebot Deadblow

But I do agree he was super annoying on Mytbusters

Technically is about it, considering he couldn’t use the proper engineering parlance on the show. Also, super annoying.

Lots of industrial “robots” aka, automation machines, are entirely pneumatic, so?

Though I guess The Clarkson was present on the 2003 reboot so... some continuity there.
