Installing a radio was one of the first diy projects I ever did on my first car when I was young. It’s saved me so much money since on ridiculous installation costs at audio places.

Nice. Driving needs good tunes.

I had to hack the dash (and the console to mount speakers) in my first Firebird to do so, but I learned a lot and have used that knowledge on many many subsequent vehicles.

It was the same first project for me as well. This time was much smoother. I didn’t break anything or blow any fuses.

Gotta have a banging system for me tunes.
One of my proudest moments was installing a cassette deck for my dad.

Sound quality is similar to the stock deck but that sweet sweet iPod compatibility.

I paid to have the iPod interface put in my Mazda because having my tunes that handy revolutionized mobile music.

Yes. I had to plug an aux and iPod USB to listen to my iPod and I had to control it from the iPod.
Now my one USB carries sound and charges IPod and I can control the iPod from the deck.

Very cool. By getting the iPod setup from the dealer, I could put it in the glove box, and control it from the deck or the wheel controls. Much safer. I had to pay $150 though. You probably saved over me.

That Mazda setup is pretty slick.

Wouldn’t charge my iPhone though. I had a separate iPod mini just to leave in the glove box.
