SO, the Canadian M37 had a different Chrysler engine, the larger 251, and I hear people put a Chrysler Spitfire head on them for more umpf. But IF the tranny needs a rebuild right now it will be more difficult to do. Hopefully we can just go through this as is and put some new fluid in there, hopefully....
“The M37CDN should have the T98 transmission in it. We have looked into helping rebuild this transmission before but we found that most of the parts were very difficult to come by.
I don’t believe that the M37 US transmission will interchange with the M37 Canadian transmission as I know the PTO is different and the US M37 has the 230 Engine while the Canadian M37 has a 251 Engine that is several inches longer that the 230. You might want to sign up at Steelsoldiers.com or Powerwagonadvertiser.com and check with the folks on the message boards to see what they have come up with for this type of situation. There’s a lot of talent and innovation on these message boards so hopefully you can find some answers there. It’s a bit out of our realm as we don’t have parts available for this but we’ll do what we can to point you in the right direction.”

I really enjoy taking a vehicle that is a few years from destruction and getting it back into shape. So many 240Zs rotted in backyards, I found mine in a shed, now it will for sure be around for a long time to come. I could pay ten grand and get an M37 that had some work done and spruce it up fairly quickly. But this one is pretty complete and I can see a few more years out there could really ruin it. I don’t buy cars I intend to sell, I might never get a project this big ever again, but I did a car and a truck. I might have to sell my 300D Merc, which I wouldn’t be too upset about, I really want a 300TD. But a DD, 240Z and an M37 will do it for me if I can’t.
