I know it’s the not the most powerful vehicle they build (duh), but it beats my current lineup of 2013 Equinox/2015 Trax. My wife said she didn’t like it, but the half-smile/half “OMG BKosher84 STOP!!!” on the 0-60 in 5.3 seconds said otherwise.

That 385 HP purrs beautifully. I love the fact that it has a “normal” and “sport” mode. Basically, normal mode disengages half the cylinders compared to sport mode which makes it a V8 octane eating monster, which makes normal mode wife friendly.

There is also a pretty good room in the back for my sons car seat (foward facing), which my wife was worried about. We rented the car to go from CLE to DET and back for a weekend trip to my mother-in-laws house. My wife even let my son ride in the “fast car” (his term) back from Detroit (we took separate cars, because of reasons). I think deep down she likes it and wouldn’t stop me if we got a good deal on one down the road (when our Trax lease ends).

I like these more than the ‘Stang and Cam e ros, but those stock rear tires are so freaking skinny. One of those in pink or purple is my wife’s dream car. I’m hoping once her Insight shits the bed she’ll look for one with a stick and 8 cylinders.

Yes, one of the first things I’d do if I had one would beef up the rear tires a bit more..

5.3 seems slow to 60 for 385 hp. I think the Ford Flex has 365 and does it in 5.8 seconds? I guess the challenger is a big car.

We looked at one, and a Challenger as well. They are really nice cars to sit in.

Yeah I was thinking that too. My 270hp v6 can hit 60 in high 5s but it has to just be a pure weight thing. 380hp in the TL would be brutally fast to 60 if you could possibly manage the torque steer.

Edit: if it were in post 2005 hp ratings it’s like 250hp and less like half the torque of the charger. Pretty crazy

That is a bit odd - the Challenger is a heavy car, but it’s lighter than the Flex is.

Flex is AWD, though, right? The skinny tires and RWD don’t help the Challenger doing 0-60.

Yes, it’s basically a fat two door sedan. It’s almost two metric tons heavy (4200lbs. Two metric tons [2000kg] is about 4400lbs).

The Mustang is 3800lbs and the Camaro is 3700lbs.

I have always like the Challenger way more than the Mustang and the Camaro for the looks alone.

they are better lookers than the crowd mowers and Cam e ros

but not the better performance car.

They are retro done well.

A Sublime Green Scat Pack Challenger was in the final 2 for vehicles when I bought my last new vehicle. If I had driven it prior to the Taco, there’d be a bright green Dodge in my garage instead of the Tacoma.

Nice! Did you rent that from Turo?

I really like the Challenger. I wouldn’t get an R/T, I’d have to have a Scat Pack or Hellcat, but I had a Scat Pack for a rental a few years ago and it was great. As Party-vi said the skinny tires are really dumb, and the car is massive and floppy, but it’s a great cruiser that’s still pretty practical for what it is.

I’m genuinely excited to see how much the hellcat widebody improves handling potential

I like everything about these, except for the fact that fiat chrysler makes them and I don’t trust their build quality.

The stock tires on these are pathetic. 245 all around is not enough for over 400 lb ft of torque. It basically requires the summer tire option with a set of winters if necessary to have proper traction. They really are great cars though, way more comfortable and usable than a Camaro or Mustang. The best part is that if it’s still not usable enough, the Charger is nice too.

Best I’ve done is 5.4 seconds to 60. With the all season tires there is just no traction.
