I’m leaning to the ZR1. It weighs 364lbs more, but has 164lb-ft more. The V8 should also have more flat tourqe curve due to the supercharger, it also give it lots of low-mid power. The GT2 RS being a high revving turbo have a more peaky power band, & lots of power in mids & high.

The question here is how much of a buff that rear-steer is giving. The GT2 is good for 10mph higher than the ZR1's top speed, but I reckon the shove from the V8 is enough to keep pace before the straights get too long (unless you’re in Bathurst). In and out of corners I’d give the GT2RS the edge, but that’s a freight train the 911 will be dealing with.

It’s going to be a close shave, definitely. The winner is the one that gets to use its power much more consistently.

Unless it turns out that they’re not using the same Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, in which case, do what Chris Harris did in the Hyper-3 test and mandate control Michelins (Motor Trend pls), then just run another lap with the option tire afterward.

On most tracks they will never see their top speed. The Vette also has an almost perfect weight distribution.

I sat in the Sinclair S5 yesterday. Can confirm - it is awful.

First off, thank you. I just lost my mind on the front page with people not even close to the realization of what this car, the C7 ZR1, is. Not to mention it will be a fraction of the price compared to all of its competition so the value remains. It may be the last of its kind for all we know; the last front-engined batshit Corvette. /rant

Back to topic! I think as long as there isn’t any heat management issues or traction issues with the ZR1, then it will be the faster car. That huge wing has to be on the back for a reason!

I’d be genuinely astounded if the Vette could beat the GT2 around any track that isn’t a drag strip.

The Z06 already struggled to put the power down, even with the extra aero from the Z07 package. Even when it did manage a great laptime, it was an anomalous event, whereas the other 10 laps were nowhere close and filled with tire smoke and white knuckles.

Big wing or not, I can’t imagine the ZR1 can do much better let alone take the extra 105 hp.

I mean, there’s only one way to find out, really.

Fuck. I broke the rule. I quoted Lieberman. Forgive me.

I wonder if they’ll also remove the ZR1's wing like they did for the Z06 just to see if the extra straight line speed from a wingless lap makes a difference!

I’m a Corvette guy and I’ll say the GT2 RS will post a faster lap time. Rear wheel steer and its transmission will give it a (small) edge.

But the 911 will cost some stupid amount of money, so it BETTER post a faster lap time.

BTW I came across a sort of similar comparison from back in the day:

The kerning between the T and the 2 is giving me physical pain.

Lamborghini, Porsche,Viper and AMG allowed a craptastic wing for decades. At least Ferrari reserves it......though less than Corvette ever has.
