So this rig is actually an allied Canadian issued truck, with an arctic package. It’s a 3/54. The hard top with rectangular window and heater were clues and now I’ve seen the Vin plate. I got a Canuckistani army rig here, eh. The good news is it is a very complete truck, the gauge panel is missing but I found all that stuff to buy. Even has the jerry can mount. Most rust is surface, some on the back right cab/bed isn’t too bad, my friend works on Datsuns so he is intimately familiar with rust holes. I’ve seen a picture of the bed disassembled and it looks like you can break it all down to five pieces, so we can repair and re bolt and seal it after painting. Frame and everything is just surface rust, looks pretty good. Everything is five times stronger than it ought to be. Tires look good enough to get through the project.

Here is a pic of these after someone took the bed apart. They also sell new bed floors but I think we can save it with some patching.

Well I am pretty sure I will buy it, when it will be painted and running is another story. But most of it can be taken apart and blasted I would imagine. I mean it must need a new wiring harness and all that. No idea when it last ran, but there are clues that it wasn’t as far back as we thought.

I own the same creeper as in the last picture. Looks like a neat truck.

This should be alot easier to do bodywork on anyhow with the straight angles and such, I can imagine it will be a ton of detail work though. Good/cool buy! WWII era stuff has it’s own brand of cool.

I’m only going to fix major dings, I might go flat OD green and not worry about it once the rust is gone and sealed up. There was a semi gloss too. They call it a “depot” restoration, like what they would have done in some Korean war depot.

VERY cool! Doubly cool that it’s a Canadian-delivered/assigned truck (especially as I am from Canada :P)

Still planning to do the Marine paintjob?

This is pretty much the coolest truck ever.

This is awesome, and makes my 1961 F-100 4x4 look like a generic 2002 F-150 by comparison.

Well I had to pause when I confirmed that, I am one of those people that is against retro modding and I value historical accuracy. I will see if I can find out where it served, or if it was built in Ontario and delivered to US forces. Based on the equipment on it it was Army, whose I don’t know. The color, if the original paint, was US through 1956, this is a 54. I don’t know if the Canuckistanis had the same thing. I heard the engines were delivered in Chrysler silver and were painted in the depots. Could do this, below, is that leaf Canadian or some US division? The Ontario M37s are called M-37F as far as I can tell, and I think 4500 were made, so these are actually rare. I’m not telling my friend the seller that, the hardtop is a good find.

Yeah guess I never realized there was a baby Power Wagon, maybe when I saw the front of these I assumed it was the larger one. My dad had a huge one on the ranch in the 80's.

Yeah I just asked him what he had up there and when I saw this I was like, ok this has to happen... It might get ugly but it has to happen.

Nice, yeah it’s a field find, can’t call it a barn find. But it’s actually in good shape and most of it appears to be protected by the paint and primer. But clean up job and disassembly first. Bed is coming apart but I might not take the cab off unless something is worrisome. Any advice is appreciated. I found the online community so I should be able to find anything out, plus the people that sell parts for these would know things. My friend says he can rebuild a flathead, I hold out hope it could run, they think it ran ten years ago.

Would this help at all? That build plate seems to indicate it was definitely built in Ontario in Windsor. It seems the Leaf symbol you reference was a Formation Sign.

Oh yeah that is cool, I haven’t’ seen that site. They have a US site with Vin searches. Yeah if I find out it was used by Canada I will need to see that, thanks.
