The RS2000 would be FWD correct? Or were they still RWD at this vintage?

No no no you need a Lotus Carlton if you want to go on a string of robberies.

Or perhaps an abandoned foxbody.

That gen had AWD for the last few years of production I think

An RS2000 4x4 does exist, though.

The Cossie and the 4x4 had AWD, the standard RS2000 was 2WD

Regular Ford Escort exterior, way over the top rally-esque interior.

That’s a nope from me.

Its a Group 2 prepared rally car.

Rally-esque actual rally interior because it’s an actual competition vehicle that’s been rallying in Finland for years

Okay, but from the small pictures it looks like many rally-esque cars I used to see boy racers with money years ago.

I grew up seeing those on the road and these on rally stages.

Understandable. But in this case I can vouch for the authenticity of the car. And not just because the seller is a Finnish rally veteran with a career spanning back into the late 80's

Cool. In the old days boy racers and the like put more effort into their cars. Now they just add fart cans, lower the suspension, illegally tint the front side windows, have the front seats reclined so far back you’d think the idiots were sleeping.

My dad used to work for a rally veteran.

There were 4x4 versions of the RS2000 in the later mk6. Quite limited numbers, and supposedly had some weakness-issue regarding the angle-drive put on the normal FWD box if you hooned it too much. There were also numbered of the F1 edition for Germany, and the Sauber edition for Switzerland(500 of each)

Oh my oh my, but i’d still say overpriced even for being rally prepped imo.

Lovely car/engine for sure. Fun fact: Those dents in the hood were supposedly required to clear the engine, but later facelifts came with normal hoods. It is however one big ass engine in a small engine bay...

It would depend on the extent of the work done and the caliber of the parts (and what comes with it in regards to spares). If the car has Ohlins or Reigers then it’s nice price on suspension alone

True that would add up, and if some engine work has been done aswell, along with some nice looking build quality, like no dash-cut to fit cage and such.

They did cut the dash, but they did it very expertly and precisely so it’s almost unnoticeable. Here’s a bigger pic

That is a lot of money for such an Escort, but understandable when rally prepped. A girl I dated had a slightly newer Escort with AWD, but that wasn’t a Cosworth or RS2000. Still fun on winter roads.

Also because rallycross:
