Master post. Every single home I’ve written about, all gathered up for you to peruse at your leisure. If you enjoy architecture, design, comment-section drama or even just learning about what it takes to be a successful window washer in the Seattle area, stop on by.

I’m posting these in order, so the oldest write-ups will be first, with the newest ones appearing at the bottom of the page. This will be updated semi-regularly.

I often use swing stages that the window washers use, but I put graphics up.

Exciting! I’ve always wanted to try some highrise work.

How much time/effort goes into setting those things up?

How many of your customers also hire maids? When I work in homes that involve a team of women in their 40s performing simple tasks that anyone with three operable limbs could do, I still get a bit of the heeby jeebies.

Don’t forget the quiet teenage daughter that tags along! I see a lot of house cleaners... I’d say roughly a third of the 6 figures and above bracket hire cleaners, based on my edumacated guesstimate. Almost none below that, other than the elderly.

Yard workers seem to be universal for absolutely any home built in the last ten years though. I like gardening and landscaping, but that’s apparently not the norm

In that regard, I’ve developed a new appreciation for people who buy condos. They’re like, “Fuck mowing the lawn, and fuck paying someone to do it. All I want is a nice view and some space.”

My next house will have a smaller yard... I can’t keep up and the weather is ass 9 months out of the year.

I respect the uniqueness... But oh man that is not my cup of tea.

I’d imagine it would look pretty awful after a few months assuming the kitchen is actually used. The simple oven is certainly interesting

Yeah, it can be nice knowing that anything that goes wrong is someone else’s job. Especially when you’ve got a good property manager that takes pride in a job well done

This is me. I don’t care for yard work, and even less for paying someone to do it. I prefer to let the yard lovers deal with that problem.

Now, about that pesky HOA/management fee...

The facial expression on the stove says it all.

Hey, it takes seconds to remove that sign to paint behind it. Who had seconds to spare these days?

Do you ask for permission to take and share these pictures?

Oh depends on the building, this is an addition to Moscone Center that we just got and it takes a day in advance to get the davits and everything going. I work for the largest show general so we have in house electricians, we usually have some issue with phases and the heads of the big cables. But if the building has permanent davits and equipment on the roof it only takes three hours or so. When we take the graphics down the setup and cleanup is far longer than the actual work.
