Euro market, so it has the correct bumpers, clean overall, low miles, cloth sport seats, manual, and what sounds like a properly done stroker M20. $9500 is a lot, but given how crazy E30 values have gone, I can’t call it a CP.

Clean looking car, but that price is crazy to me.

Clean big bumper 325is’s are usually asking similar money. Verts are even more. My friend sold his extremely clean vert a while ago for $13k. There are still deals that pop up sometimes, but their prices are seriously insane now. With this one you also have to factor in the cost of importing a comparable one, which makes it seem like a bit of a better deal.

That does look great. Those cloth sport seats look amazingly comfortable.

I’ll have to take pictures of the seats in my friends E30 with nearly 400k. They look at least as good

It is a lot, but there’s no way you could import an equally clean one, and build a stroker motor for it for less.

They aren’t the most comfy old BMW seat, but I like them better than the E30 comfort seats. The most comfy old BMW seats would have to be E28 comfort seats, if you can find any that aren’t worn out.

Man, it wasn’t that long ago that these (not necessarily imported but similar optioned/condition e30s) would be listed for 1950, not 9500

Yeah....I wish I had the money for one back then. Not even that long ago. My friend bought his gorgeous 91 318is for $2500 in 2011...

I still think the prices are crazy, even if the market will support it. Give me 5,000 reasons why this is better than and E36 or E46 for that matter...

It’s not better, it’s just more desired. I also think the prices are crazy, but because the market is there, I can’t call it a CP even though I feel it’s a CP. Locally, people are starting to ask crazy money for E36s, specifically manual coupes. They’re priced above E46 sedans in a lot of cases. E46s are hitting the bottom of their values, while E36s are going up, and E30s are probably peaking. Hopefully.

Meh, I like the sedans. Supposedly they’re more rigid than the coupes, but that could be total BS.

I love my E46 5-speed wagon, I’d probably keep it forever if I could. In hindsight, I may have bought my current one at the bottom of its value curve. I can’t see prices of *good* E46 manual wagons going down much at this point. And I don’t need a project car. My next one might have to be an E9x.

Those are cool cars. I’ve never driven one, but they’re on my list of cars I’d hypothetically buy if I needed to replace my Subaru for some reason.

It is a very good all-around car. I have 2 kids and 2 dogs, and like to ski and bike, so I definitely use it to its full potential. I took my trash/recycling to the dump in it this morning after taking the kids to school. It’s also great on long highway hauls, and it’s an xi so it dominates the snow. It’s not “fast” but it’s not painfully slow either. It sounds great up high in the rpm range, too.

The problem with the E30 is you have to really like BMW to warrant one. If you think all badges are equal you can get a similar car with much higher cool factor with a turbo charged engine and the same if not better handling for the same price.

I’m talking about JDM imports.

A S13 Silvia recently won the world time trials and I just picked up a JDM FD Rx7 for $12k which is a far better car than this. X100s are similar to this car but have a 1JZ engine. So many options.

The E30 is only worth it if it’s a M3 or you have the means to do a serious build on it. I wouldn’t even get it if you just want a cool cruiser, get a Mazda Cosmo with the 3 rotor 20B if you want that.

E30 is basically euro car fanboy levels at the prices they are at. Even then that’s not the best “deal”, that would be the 944 which you can pick up for $5000 less than one of these.

I do just like BMW enough to want one, I don’t even want one for any performance aspects, I just love how they feel to drive when set up properly, and how they look. Though I’ve got my heart fairly set on an E28, hopefully importing a euro 535i at some point. I don’t try to rationalize it, I just love em.

When these cars were like $4000 for a clean one they were AMAZING buys. It’s just insane to me that these are ballooning to Skyline GTS-T levels in price and the 944 is sitting there at the bottom still. A 924S is great too, possibly even better, but I still see the occasional one selling for $3000.

E28 535i is one of my favorite cars it is the right size, right power, and right weight all combined and the M30 is a great engine. If you are into “tuning” too there is a lot left to get out of that M30 if you put a cam in and a Miller WAR chip. Some people have been getting 250hp+ out of that combo. The M30 sounds awesome too.

Honestly if these cars came with the M30 OEM I could justify the $9000. Alpinas came with that but they are very expensive.

Yeah that’s very true. I’ve had a lot of fun with old BMWs while they were hilariously cheap, and it’s getting harder and harder to find the deals now.

A friend of mine had an ‘86 535i 5 speed with an old Dinan chip in it. The redline was just over 7k, it pinged on anything less than 94, and it was way faster than it had any right to be. Such a fun car. That one is why I’m planning on importing a euro one.

I wish they offered the M30 and the M60 in E30s from the factory, the M60 especially is bizarrely easy to swap in, apparently.
