I’m more interested in the green one, it has most of the original military lighting etc. and the whole grille and guards. The removable top is cool, just a little restoration for that, needs a second piece of glass. I found the correct tires, non directional, wondering if I should get more normal tires. If anyone wants the grey one let me know, it’s older, I’m told the round rear window is older. Some old guy that lives on the property sent these pics. I’m talking to my friend with the shop that we did the work on the Z in. I will have to keep it at the shop and do a few things, we might need to rebuild the engine. It has no title so we will have to apply for that too, went from military to off road work. I can’t wait to see soccer moms reacting to this thing. Oh and the doors don’t lock, these military people didn’t need it I guess. So I can never keep anything in it and I will get a battery disconnect under the seat, plus a club or something.

Since it’s carbed, a fuel-system kill switch would also work - there’s enough gas in the carb to maybe move it a little, but it’ll cut out quickly.

Good luck, I really hopes this works out. I like the look of the round rear window top, but I’d prefer the one that’s more complete as well.

As far as the tires it depends on how much you actually plan to drive it. The one Jeep I’ve driven with them was fine until we got to a spot where the road was wet. Wet blacktop and NDTs is NOT fun.

Yeah, I was thinking of all the damp roads in the hills here. I can get some in that size, I found some power wagon sites with options. The NDTs are way cheaper but I heard the flat normal tires help the ride considering what the trucks are like. I actually hate the round window LOL. I am going to make a USMC replica.

I remember you were planning to make a USMC style truck. That’s why I think the more complete example is best. It’s the details that’ll cost a bunch and be harder to find down the road. That’s also why I wondered how much you planned to use it. If your plan was just cars and coffee and parades I’d say NDT for sure, but for regular driving I think you’d be happier with normal tires.

As far as the round window all I can say is I’m a fan of oddballs.

I plan to drive it to surf and out to places we hike. For sure way more than to C&C. I probably won’t take it out of the county very often but I think some directional military tires would be smart. There are used Michelin military tires with 75-90% tread for sale. Or maybe these Coker vintage or STA Superlugs:

OK - so if you go get one, you need to do the entire transaction with a Robin Williams impression.

My friend Bill who is selling it might be up for that. He’s also trying to add my having children as part of the deal... My mom was in his high school class and now lives down the road from where he was when he died. She was walking my dog and an ambulance went by, then found out why later that day. Well that was my downer story!
