This is the best kind of bad. I want it.
It’s one of the least appealing conversions. But God do I want it.
A red interior. A fucking red leather interior on a baby blue V8 S-Class wagon conversion.
Is it weird that I want it? Not as much as those 1980 Rolls-Royce Wagon conversions, but still.

From the Ad:
“It’s first owner in Germany had ordered the car in dark blue and took over in January 1982. In the late 1980s, successful business people, wealthy manufacturers and well-known artists in far Japan were obsessed with the desire to own a vehicle from a German car manufacturer. High above all, the Mercedes-Benz brand stood as such a status symbol. So also this Mercedes-Benz came to Japan one day. A Japanese artist, as we were impressively told in the Land of Smiles, wanted to have a Mercedes like no other. It should be luxurious, powerful and had to offer convenient place. He liked the S-Class line well, but he had to be different.”
Apparently a Japanese artist wanted it like that.

That rear side window is familiar, but I can’t place it. Interesting that if this really is a 1982 car, it received the updated side panels and door cards from the MY 1986 facelift.
There were other 126 conversions that looked less unusual:
