Carmen, by Georges Bizet. Probably the most popular opera of all time. Three hours long, but no spoilers on whether or not anybody dies at the end. Hopefully it won’t be me.

Having a ball. And when we’re not playing, the music is fantastic to listen to. There is a children’s chorus early in the first act, and I made my operatic debut in the Carmen children’s chorus back in about 1978. Takes me back.

We really want to get down to Die Walküre at Lyric Opera of Chicago but we can’t quite make it to the Sunday 1pm shows and the evening shows would be asking a lot of a baby sitter for our 6 month old.

I saw Carmen many years ago when I was in HS and of course love the excerpts you hear on the radio (WFMT) pretty often.

Definitely helps to see it in person. And the supertitles most places have these days makes it easy to understand what’s happening.

I saw that game starting to go sideways for Georgia so recorded it to watch later. It was awesome. Not that I hate UGA, I just like a good upset.
