Another car got dropped in my lap this morning.

The car is owned by a young lass that lives out in the sticks.

She’s had a few knocks to the front that ‘weren’t my fault’, lol.

But they are isolated to the front bumper.

The car is a 2014 (64 plate) Ford Ka. 1.2 (1,242cc), 70bhp,

Kinja'd!!!

She was suitably pleased with the car.

Engine bay degreased and dressed with Jaffa Clean and 303 Aerospace protectant.

Car degreased, pressure rinsed, shampoo’d, pressure rinse, two bucket wash, pressure rinsed, fallout remover used on whole vehicle, pressure rinsed, de-tarred, pressure rinsed, sealed with water activated sealant, pressure rinsed and dried.

Interior vacuumed, drivers mat and rear passenger footwell shampo’d, interior surfaces cleaned, rear parcel shelf shaved from pilling, interior glass done.

Exterior plastics and rubbers dressed along with wiper rears, wheel arches and tyres dressed.

I’ve made her promise that when she wants it cleaned, to bring it to me and not to ‘Shiny’ (a local hand wash company who use open cell sponges and chamois that scratch the hell out of the paint work, chemicals that damage wheels and rubbers).

on the bizarre off chance that I ever go to England and for some reason bring my Solara, I’ll be sure to have you clean it.

Huh, these look Fiat 500-sized. Any idea how they compare?

I loved the original Ka. So ahead of its time.

I wish we got the Ka, the Fiesta just isn’t small enough

I wish you were here. My car needs this kind of love and I simply have no clue how to do it (nor do I know of a person that does it right)...

As Chinny Raccoon says. The second gen Ford Ka was made by Fiat together with the Fiat 500.

I enjoy doing it.

Most cars I look after are loved by their owners but the owners either don’t have the time or knowledge to go about cleaning their car properly and safely.

It’s a pleasure to do it.

The Ka took four hours, but now it’s done will only take one and a half to two hours once a month or two months.

This the second gen Ford Ka is just a little bit smaller than the U.S. current sixth gen Ford Fiesta (the rest of the world’s previous Ford Fiesta).

44cm shorter (just over 10% of it’s length against the Fiesta), 7cm narrower and 3cm taller.

The new Ford Ka which is based on the fifth gen Ford Fiesta is less different in size.

You get the Fiat 500 which is close enough. Made on the same line (or the same plant at least) in Poland.

As always it looks great! If only you worked in Michigan.

Thanks.

I just got a panicked call from a colleague. Her son who has just passed his test not long ago has scraped the car on a post and she’s bringing it round tomorrow to see what I can do with it.

It’s nice to be wanted. Lol.

Very clean. What do you use on the rims?

Thanks.

I have a two pronged attack.

Washing the wheels before washing the car so if any cleaner splashes elsewhere on the car, it splashes onto a dirty car and not a just washed surface.

First pressure rinse the wheels of heavy debris. Then spray Valet Pro Bilberry Wheel Cleaner onto the wheels and agitate with a detailing brush on the wheel facings and a medium size Wheel Woolie to get in the spokes and into the wheel backs, pressure rinse and go onto another wheel. By the time you come round to the first wheel it should be sufficiently dry to spray a fallout/brake dust remover (you can use the fallout remover straight away but why waste an expensive product when a regular wheel cleaner will remove much of the dirt allowing the fallout remover to do it’s job more thoroughly), allow to dwell for a couple of minutes for it to desolve the brake dust, then like with the wheel cleaner, use the brushes to clean the surfaces and in behind the wheels, then thoroughly rinse off. Allow to dry or wipe dry and then seal with a sealant or wax to reduce brake dust build up and aid future cleaning.

Kinja'd!!!

Cleaning in behind the wheel can make all the difference and give a good deep shine.

I’ know the feeling, I’ get called whenever something breaks and they need it fixed because I’m pretty handy.

I like it but sometime it’s like, ‘come on, look at the situation and get on with it for goodness sakes’.

One time was very early in the morning to go across town to change a tyre.

On the third gen Ford Fiesta

Kinja'd!!!

The jack and wheel brace was under the bonnet on the top right corner.

Kinja'd!!!

Use the wheel brace to undo the nut in the boot to lower the spare wheel carrier from the underside of the boot area and change the tyre. But no, even after explaining and explaining it I had to get out of bed and go change the tyre for her.

It gets old really fast when they don’t even thank me for doing stuff, let alone compensate me in any way. But that’s how my family treats me.
