If they can’t even program their parts catalog properly.

See that little VIN/Shortcut box up there? Well that’s Step One in looking up parts for an FCA vehicle. You type the last 8 of a VIN (or the year, model code, and group if you’re sexy) in there and hit ENTER or “GO” and it whisks you into the catalog to look up parts based on that VIN.

One slight problem.

YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR MOUSE CURSOR HOVERING IN THAT BOX OR IT DOESN’T INPUT WHAT YOU’RE TYPING.

Case in point, I’m on the phone, I get someone’s VIN, I click the box and start typing but OH NO, my mouse moved a few MILLIMETERS and now the cursor is OUTSIDE THE BOX and whatever I’m typing goes into no-mans land.

I hate this, I wish they’d fix it, but its been like this for YEARS and no matter how many times I send feedback on it they don’t fix it.

Its quite annoying.

My always favorite Mopar website, and how they only have images for half the products they sell.

I miss the Alt+S. I have about 65 to 70% of the group numbers memorized and about 100% of them memorized for VW. I used to just flip from 008 505 back to 008 1910 or 014 805 ect. just as fast as I can in ETKA. With that box, I can type the VIN and then 001A 326 if I want some mudflaps and then if I need to look up an EGR valve for the same car I used to hit Alt+S and just type 025 205 and bam it would take me there. Plus if your wrong, like you type 005 205 and the rear brakes are in 005 210 instead, it would at least put you right next to the correct illustration. Now you have to start all over with the VIN again, and if your off by one illustration number it puts you at the beginning. The old star parts was more efficient even though it had no DealerConnect parts inquiry.

Nothing will ever be as efficient as ETKA though. (: I love me some ETKA.

Hah, try using the actual OEM catalog. half the illustrations are wrong, a lot of the parts are ‘not shown’, and I have to GOOGLE THE PART NUMBER to see what it actually looks like, thanks to eBay and Amazon listings.

I guess I really shouldn’t complain. I used to work for a Suzuki franchise.
