Kinja'd!!!

I mean, I know I wouldn’t pay $17k for it, but I don’t hate that it exists.

PROTIP: If you’re going to keep drum brakes on an old car, don’t draw attention to them with bright paint.

At least they used a 4 door as a start.

$17k? Meh, no.

I think they’re just glowing from a trip around the block.

Ehhhh it’s an old school thing, so I’m cool with it. Shit, I’ve thought about doing it to the rear drums on the Camaro, and I think at some point the Chevelle’s were painted.

My Apollo had the rear drums painted bright red by the PO, but yeah.

I like it. It’s cool and interesting. That price is hilarious though. CP at half the price.

The biggest problem with the execution is that it looks like a flower car. I mean, I don’t *dislike* it, but it doesn’t look as much like somebody at Chevy was sniffing glue as it should.

I’m all over the idea of compact utes, though, and his engine pairing is a good choice.

Pretty good execution. I like it but then I like all novas this vintage.

I wonder if that’s an el Camino rear glass piece or custom?

I’d pay about 10 grand though. he’s hoping to sell it for what he’s got into it obviously.

I like the idea of what he was shooting for and like the integration of the concave rear window personally.

The engine choice is a good one, but I have a problem with upgrading the engine and keeping four wheel drum brakes. It’s a relatively minor expense to make the conversion, but his price is high enough that anyone looking at it is going to expect a completed car not one that’s 80% done.

Yeah, I often wonder if these overpriced listings are an attempt to placate a spouse, “see honey I tried to sell it.”

You can’t cut up a car, weld it back together, and suddenly double the value.

The El Camino would’ve had flat glass.

I believe there were a couple years where 4 door Novas had that shape of the rear glass. I want to say in either 73 or 74, but I can’t find any good pictures from that angle.

I think it’s equal parts that, and those who are just completely delusional. They guys who think the fact that they have $XXXXX sunk into a project has any bearing on the actual value of it.
