I’m in the same boat. It somehow seems more “right” for me to drive my 2006 Silverado instead of my 2013 Volt. That’s even though the only advantage of the Silverado is outward visibility.

While it’s not a sports car, the dynamics and feedback is better than a lot of modern vehicles. You can feel what the vehicle is doing. Every bump you hit, the steering wheel talks to you.

Throttle-by-wire, and electronic power steering has really ruined the driving experience for me. I hate this numb shit, and I hate half second delays in throttle response.

I recognized that cluster even from the thumbnail. My mom had an 89 Sport I6 5 speed.

Had to buy the blipshift shirt when it came out. Hers was red too.

You’ve clearly never driven an old Jeep. There’s a 30-degree dead spot on center in the steering. Every bump is transmitted to the steering wheel because every bushing is worn out.

This isn’t an air cooled Porsche. It’s not an E30 M3. It’s not even an E30 325e. The whole vehicle feels loose and unsure of itself. While the 4.0 has the torque to hang the ass end out on a dirt or wet road, it isn’t the slide I was used to in any other rear-drive car I’ve ever driven. It was loose and sloppy and scary.

Even so, it feels like home.
