I am at the Subaru dealer having them change the oil in my 2012 Outback. It’s the nicest car i have ever had and I don’t wanna change the oil. I also priced out what they want for the parts to do my timing belt in said car and they are $100 more than eBay for the same factory parts so eBay it is. It’s weird not to be changing my own oil.

Also I wore this shirt today to the dealer.

Does it feel dirty, paying for it?

Don’t forget to re-torque your drain plug and oil filter after 50 miles.

I do feel awful paying for it. I don’t have time right now to do it so I figured the darker would be the best place to go. They already tried to get me change my air filters. They actually brought them to me to look at and asked if I wanted them changed. They also said $40to change some light bulbs. Nope.

I am going to try and not think about that. My wife takes her car here and had been really happy with everything so I feel like it’s okay.

Unless I’m doing something weird (special order oil or whatever) I’ll do the first oil change on a car, and never again. Most places paying to have it done is about the same as doing it myself.

That said, the first time I took the Landy in the shop said (and this is a direct quote) “had no way of knowing” what oil they’d put in, when I asked, so I may be changing that policy...

We take our outback to the dealer for all oil changes (since new). It’s on it’s second engine due to excessive oil consumption. I don’t want any lip from Subaru if the second engine decides to take a dump too. I’m just not sold on straight 20w oil. when I was a kid I ran 20w-50 in my car in the summer and 10w-30 in the winter. This 20w crap is like water.

If you had that 360, you’d never have to change your oil ever again.

So, did you steal the 360 and put it in your pocket to give to me?

If you’re ever bored, lots of awesome Subaru 360 goodness here plus other awesome car-related stuff as he is a specialty mechanic and often works on fixing or restoring lots of weird awesome classics (the guy owns like 3 of the Subie 360 cars and 2 of the 360 vans, plus a Honda N600 with a bike engine, a Renault Daphine, 2 40's DKWs, a Kia microvan, and many other epic rides to name a few!!!). I’m subscribed to his channel - his videos are mostly relatively short, but he uploads very frequently, so that makes up for it! :D

No need to feel bad. The price difference between the parts and having them do the work is probably less than $20.

That being said, be sure to check the oil level after they do it. The local dealer overfilled mine, which led to oil starvation and a blown engine.

They’re just random trim versions of that car. I always thought their names were funny, so i try to use them as much as possible. Also, the fact that they built many performance versions of a car....like that....kinda tickles me. Here’s a Young SS

Kinja'd!!!

I’m pretty sure it had like 2 more hp than the regular version plus those cool graphics and a double bubble roof. Actually, i think the double bubble roof was on all the Young models.
